As Of Late

Just what I've been feeling. I'm unoriginal.
1 Nokturnal Mortum
Goat Horns

Two keyboards and a nice mid-paced folk touch make this epic black metal release one of the coolest I've heard in a long while.
2Pain of Salvation
The Perfect Element Part One

Daniel Gildenlow wins at life, mostly. The album is pure emotion, and his ability to go between octaves is amazing. He even pulls off some Patton-esque pseudo-rapping.
3Ignite
Our Darkest Days

It's just plain great. A punk/hardcore album with outstanding vocals.
4 Kaamos
Lucifer Rising

A great old school death metal vibe on this bitch.
5 Manticora
The Black Circus Part 1 - Letters

An outstanding power/prog concept. "Forever Carousel" really kicks ass.
6Epheles
Souviens-Toi

Black metal that doesn't use rawness as a mask for mediocre music. Amazing stuff.
7 Sculptured
The Spear of the Lily is Aureoled

Featuring members of Agalloch, but doesnt sound much like them. A progressive death album with very interesting riffs and outstanding vocals.
8Against Me!
Reinventing Axl Rose

It fucking rules, more or less.
9Primordial
The Gathering Wilderness

Quiet production can't stop this from being one of the top pagan black metal releases in recent memory.
10 Girl Talk
Night Ripper

Mash-ups done right. As opposed to the typical two artist/album/song mash-up, Girl Talk layers up to 20 songs in a single track to make for an interesting listen. It's good fun picking out what songs are there and hearing Biggie rap over Elton John never gets old.
