Inveigh 05.19.10	close call, I actually have been planning to make a list about how the two genres mirror each other, not just somewhat musically, but bands almost mirror each other (think KsE = Metallica, Megadeth = Unearth, Converge = Sodom, TDEP = Kreator, AILD or ABR = Testament) but the influences that created them (NWOBHM = Swedish melodeath, hardcore punk = late 80s and early 90s metallic hardcore). But you went with Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson, so maybe there's no need for me to do that now ;-) I probably listen to more metalcore, because I was born in 1985. But thrash does indeed rule.

Inveigh 05.19.10	a decent amount of "metal purists" thought the same thing about thrash in the late 80s and early 90s, saying the same things they said about metalcore. It was "over-saturated" "watered-down" and "no bands in this genre have any originality anymore." It's just that there was no internet back then, so the over-saturation wasn't quite so apparent to most listeners. We make fun of metalcore for being loved by so many "bros" but back in the 80s and 90s there was no more "bro" of a genre than thrash metal.

Inveigh 05.19.10	I'm with ya BigHans, but only with certain 80s hair metal. It was kinda like the poppier metalcore and screamo in this generation, it straddled a fine line between "bro" and "chick music." The Devil Wears Prada, Bring Me the Horizon, 18 Visions, Atreyu, Bullet For My Valentine etc. all fit this description. I would consider Poison and Bon Jovi to be along those lines with hair metal. But then you have Skid Row, Motley Crue, GnR, Scorpions etc. as the true "bro" hair metallers.

BigHans 05.19.10	Nah, they had three I think. You might like their self titled. Its pretty campy, AC/DC esque. His bit is he always brings out a chainsaw during live performances when they play their most famous song, "The Lumberjack Song." You have to check out "She Loves My Cock," it slays. "I stand alone" is a pretty good hair/hard rock song as well.

Idnuf 05.19.10	Prob metalcore. They both have their share of awesome albums and absolute shit, it's just that it's trendy to hate on metalcore right now and basically everyone on this site has the same opinion (in that everyone overrates the same albums(which is annoying but I'm getting off topic)). Everyone says metalcore is so unoriginal, yet they listen to one-note thrash that they prop up as amazing. Also, I challenge anyone to find a vocalist in metalcore as shitty as the one from Vio-lence.
