| In Flames Albums Ranked
A ranking of each In Flames album, followed by my reason for each. | 9 | | In Flames Lunar Strain
Good album with lots of mixed time signatures, which I like. However, poor
production and a few uninspired riffs make this one a little less entertaining
than the others. | 8 | | In Flames A Sense of Purpose
Each song on this album is either very enjoyable or rather boring, and this
lack of consistency earns the album a lower rank. | 7 | | In Flames Soundtrack to Your Escape
While it's certainly different, it's not necessarily bad. However, the clean
vocals can be annoying and a few songs sound repetitive. | 6 | | In Flames Clayman
A well-done album, but this one somehow comes across as less interesting
than its predecessors. | 5 | | In Flames Reroute to Remain
This album has some of the greatest material that the band has produced,
but a lot of the rest of it seems to be average. Therefore, like A Sense of
Purpose, it's less consistent than other albums, but it's much more varied
and enjoyable. | 4 | | In Flames The Jester Race
This album sounds very melodic and beautiful, but it lacks variety and
seems to focus a bit too much on the guitars. | 3 | | In Flames Whoracle
A slight improvement over The Jester Race, with more variety, but the
guitars are still given a little too much importance. | 2 | | In Flames Come Clarity
The first album I heard by In Flames, this is quite heavy and fast-paced
while still managing to be varied and interesting. | 1 | | In Flames Colony
Truly the best material that In Flames has written. It's melodic like older
albums and catchy like newer albums. The vocals are also much better
here than on any other In Flames album. | |

05.19.10 | I haven't even heard Lunar Strain but I know that it's def better than STYE, RTR and ASOP | Inveigh
05.19.10 | ^it's more consistent than RtR, but RtR has some fantastic songs on it, just mixed in with some of their worst material ever. | KILL
05.19.10 | shit list | BigHans
05.19.10 | Put Jester Race #1 to appease Kill. | BeardedIdiot
05.19.10 | CC NOT 1ST BLASPHEMY WAT IS THIS I DONT EVEN
your list is better than mine, first because of the fact you have actually heard ALL of the studio albums. I said in my list: 1-3 and 5-6 are constantly trading places. so yeah...
I will probably still go into SputnikChronicles as "the guy who put Come Clarity in the first place"... :DDD | Locrian
05.21.10 | I do like the Jester Race very much (in fact, I gave all the top four albums on this list a 4.5 and it was very difficult to rank them). However, I have a couple of problems with it. First of all, I disapprove of Anders' voice - it seems to lack passion. Then as I mentioned earlier, guitars are given a bit too much focus. I also talked about that in my Whoracle review.
Colony was a huge improvement over those two albums (and I'm even thinking about bumping it up to a 5) because the lineup changes resulted in largely different displays of musicianship; you could tell that the drums, for example, were given a lot more thought. The vocals are also way better, the best Anders has done to date.
I have to admit that I'm a bit partial toward Come Clarity, since it's the first album I heard by them. But I like it because it contains aspects of both the old and the new albums, giving it a lot more variety than previous material. | Metalstyles
05.21.10 | Pretty cool ranking actually, to be honest. Our 1 and 2 are the same, although I absolutely love all In Flames records. | Locrian
05.21.10 | I do really enjoy all of the albums. For me, Lunar Strain is a 3 while everything else is at least a 3.5. | zarquan99
