| Good Day At Hoodwink
Went to the Hoodwink Festival in NJ today. For those of you who don't
know, Hoodwink is a little pre-show that leads up to Bamboozle Saturday
and Sunday. Basically, it's a bunch of pretty popular bands covering
other bands, and it's a lot of fun. Here were the highlights of the day for
me. | 1 | | Saves The Day Played Almost All of Pinkerton
One hugely influential band covering another, this was absolutely the highlight
of the night. The crowd knew every line, and the band was spot on. Even Chris'
guitar tone was perfect. I was VERY lucky to see this .The best song they played
was definitely The Good Life, and then they played At Your Funeral as an
encore. | 2 | | Say Anything The Misfits
It was completely fitting that Max and company cover such an over the top
band, because they ARE such an over the top band. The crowd loved every song
these guys played too, and there were plenty of pits to show for it. So much fun
to watch these guys, as always. Halloween and We Are 138 were probably the
best songs they played. | 3 | | Motion City Soundtrack Nine Inch Nails (?)
I was completely blown away by this one. It was a completely unexpected
choice, but these guys pulled it off FLAWLESSLY. I was extremely impressed by
how much they actually sounded like NIN. They played Wish, March of the Pigs,
Head Like A Hole, and even Hurt. All of them spot on. Pretty great, and very
surprising. | 4 | | All Day Holiday The Beach Boys
Never heard of these guys before this, but it was a lot of fun to watch them
play, and they did a really great job with all the songs they played. Good
Vibrations in particular was spot on. Great harmonies and great energy really
got the crowd going. | 5 | | Man With Beard A Legend.
Perhaps the pinnacle of the night, I met epic beard man...a true American
hero...with an epic beard. He drunkenly sang me songs about his friend
"Travelin Bob", and went on a long and arduous journey to steal someone's
blunt from the audience. He was a total manic...and my hero. | |
