04.24.10 | List probably needs more Frank Zappa. Still some juicy names though. |
Yazz_Flute
04.24.10 | 1 and 2 are probably the only ones i'd really agree with. 4 is a fantastic guitarist, but I wouldn't call him a musical genius as much as I love Dream theater.
I'd add Toby Driver and Dan Swano off the top of my head. |

04.24.10 | lol thomas erak musical genius
|
RiseToRemain
04.24.10 | Good list...allow me to disagree about John Petrucci though...definetely a musical genius evident by all the releases of his two main projects DT and LTE where he is responsible for 75% of the writing & arrangement/orchestration of the songs and on top of that the production as well...
James Hetfield, Neil Peart, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Page & Plant and obviously many others...good list though

04.24.10 | ^...lol...we all USED to be mega MET fans but that doesnt change the fact that the man is a genius...he can play, write and orchestrate anything from speed/thrash/pure heavy metal/blues/rock/rockabilly and so on...his flexibility is incredible his live performances are immaculate and he does all of the above whilst singing as well (have you ever tried to play Dyers Eve or Disposable Heroes and sing at the same time?)
and after all he is the man that brought us master of puppets even though the short fat bastard gets writing credits as well just cause they wanted to satisfy the latters inferiority complex... |

04.24.10 | There are so many more I want to name, but I narrowed it down to 10 because I could keep going, really. I knew John Petrucci would be a hard one for many to accept because he is certainly not the bulk of DT, but, musically, the guy is a genius He knows just about everything there is to know about guitar and his compositional skills are quite outstanding. I completely forgot all about Page and Plant, who definitely should have been on here.
Btw, Thomas Erak is definitely a gifted songwriter. The Fall of Troy has some of the most impressive stuff I have ever listened to, especially Doppleganger. How he plays guitar like a madman and sings at the same time is mind boggling to me. |
Edwin
04.24.10 | I agree about James Hetfield actually. He deserves his own spot in history, for being pretty tops all round. |
Shredzilla
04.24.10 | Hetfield is easily the best part of Metallica. No doubt. |

04.24.10 | I love Staley just as much as the next person, but I wouldn't really consider him a musical genius. Cantrell did do the majority of the song writing in AiC. |
