Top 5 Most Underrated Guitarists

Since I've already made a list of whom I believed to be the top 5 most overrated guitarists, I am now going to make one discussing who I believe to be the top 5 most underrated guitarists. Make sure to give me your suggestions of your top underrated guitarists. Enjoy!
1Mikael Akerfeldt

Opeth is my favorite band of all time and it is no secret that I love Opeth because of Mikael's abilities to write amazing music. However, he also possesses the ability to play one hell of a guitar. Mikael's playing is not in the vain of traditional Metal guitarists and it really shows throughout his playing. Akerfeldt plays with a very bluesy demeanor, but, at the same time, still manages to sneak in the shred. His playing is certainly original to only him. Go check out his solo's on songs such as "The Grand Conjuration" and "Epilogue" and then try telling me that he's not an amazing player.
2Robert Fripp

Fripp was the guitarist of the Progressive Rock band King Crimson. King Crimson were certainly a different band for their time and one of the first to successfully merge Fusion Jazz, Blues, and Rock all into one cohesive and enjoyable package. Fripp's playing reflects all of these styles well, mixing chromatic scale runs with bluesy licks and rock god worthy riffs such as "21st Century Schizoid Man's" famous opening riff. Fripp is definitely an underrated guitar great and should be up there with the likes of Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck.
3David Gilmour

In my opinion, every guitarist should know of the great David Gilmour, but recently I have found out that not that many truly know of Gilmour and his genius work in one of the best Progressive Rock bands to ever exist: Pink Floyd. Gilmour is one of my favorite guitarists ever because he is not technical or impressive in his technique; however, what Gilmour manages to do is something that every guitarist just wishes he/she could do: truly speak through his instrument. Gilmour can say more with one simple note than Rusty Cooley can say in his whole solo career's worth of music. He is an amazing guitarist and has written some of the most memorable solo's ever, such as the solo in "Time" and "Another Brick In The Wall Pt.2." If you don't know of Gilmour or his work, please, go now and check him out. His playing is truly inspirational and I promise, he will not disappoint......well, unless you enjoy truly soulless guitar playing with absolutely no substance!
4Jason Truby

I was first introduced to Jason Truby while he was in the band P.O.D. Of course, I never truly expected anything from him because of the band he was in, but I was later proven greatly wrong after hearing the genius track "Eternal" that was somehow smuggled onto P.O.D.'s album "Payable On Death." After hearing "Eternal," I was extremely surprised that Truby was such an amazing and soulful guitar player. I later found out that he had left P.O.D. to pursue his own solo career, which, from what I've heard, is also amazing. Definitely check Jason out. He is an amazing guitarist and truly worthy of a better position in the music industry than what he has now.
5Tosin Abasi

Abasi is a recent find for me. He has served with many bands, including the Tech Metalcore outing "Born of Osiris", but Abasi's work is only truly realized with his solo project known as "Animals As Leaders." In Animals As Leaders, Abasi truly shows his genus and technical abilities, playing amazingly technical runs and extremely difficult polyrhythms. He is a fine guitarist and, hopefully, will reach a larger audience in the next upcoming years, because he is certainly deserving to be up to the level of guitar greats such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.
