eternium
04.08.10 | I think this is a good list. |
eternium
04.08.10 | Eh, some of them pop up again and again, but they deserve it. |
jesusjuice1179
04.08.10 | i disagree with Tool and Mastodon, i think they're quite inconsistent actually |
eternium
04.08.10 | That's quite an odd opinion. |
eternium
04.08.10 | Ah, I should have included Radiohead.
Maybe Between the Buried and Me since they keep releasing the same album over and over. |
jesusjuice1179
04.08.10 | Tool is maybe consistent at sucking, and Mastodon changes their sound so much that's it's ridiculously hard to keep up with them, and my opinion of them changes so often from good to bad |
ohnoestehmusik
04.08.10 | I think Brand New and Every Time I die would be on this list too. |
eternium
04.08.10 | Mastodon is consistent on quality.
I don't care for Brand New's first album and not so much for Deja Entendu either, as much as I LOVE TDAGARIM and Daisy.
Every Time I Die has a couple of good albums, but I don't care for most. |
Parallels
04.08.10 | Dream Theater is probably the most consistent and most non-consistent band ever at the same time. all their albums are gold to the true fans but the psuedo-fans always are turned off by the next album.
|
ohnoestehmusik
04.08.10 | Consistency has nothing to do with your opinion of them... |
jesusjuice1179
04.08.10 | what speed said but apply that to Mastodon |
eternium
04.08.10 | Well, these bands have good consistency then.
Dream Theater is alright. Never really listened to a whole album. |
eternium
04.08.10 | Fuck, should have put Elliott Smith.
Oh well, he wasn't a band. |
BigTuna
04.08.10 | good list. I was gonna comment and say "Thrice" but then you already had it so WAY TO GO |
TomServo
04.08.10 | good list. Although, it's gotta be easier for tool to be consistent when over a nearly 20 year span they've only put out 4 records. |
eternium
04.08.10 | In a way, but like I said, Lateralus and Ænima are both masterpieces, 5/5 for me. |
Sowing
04.08.10 | i agree but it could also use brand new |
Observer
04.08.10 | the beatles and led zep |
eternium
04.08.10 | I didn't even think about older bands, mainly because they won't be releasing anymore albums that we know will be great. |
Masochist
04.08.10 | Good list, absolutely, even if I'm not a fan of some of these bands. Surprised that Between The Buried And Me aren't on here.
Personally, I'd add Porcupine Tree. |
Observer
04.08.10 | i might put sigur ros |
Nagrarok
04.08.10 | Alice in Chains comes to mind at the moment. |
eternium
04.08.10 | I love AIC, but they only had three full albums with Layne, then Black Gives Way to Blue like fifteen years later. So, drugs kinda kept the band from being consistent. |
Nagrarok
04.08.10 | I quoth:
'All of these bands have had four albums or more, all of which are of great quality.'
The three with Layne were all great, s/t being the weakest but still making the mark, and BGWB was a fantastic comeback. Let's not forget the marvellous Unplugged either. |
ihopeuchoke
04.08.10 | Where's radiohead??? :0 |
FeralMemories
04.08.10 | I think Immolation has to be the most consistant death metal band, hands down. The Ocean is always consistant as well. |
eternium
04.08.10 | But the fifteen years between self-titled and BGWTB is what ruins is. I do love the Unplugged. Hell, Alice in Chains is probably my favorite of the early '90s Seattle bands. |
Nagrarok
04.08.10 | You should be happy they reunited recently and did things right instead of pushing on with the risk of a downfall. |
eternium
04.08.10 | I am happy. Black Gives Way to Blue is an amazing record and I was extremely skeptical before I heard it.
If The Ocean's new albums are what I expect them to be, they may be one of the most consistent bands ever. |
Niceinvader
04.08.10 | agreed. though i would add the dear hunter. the mars volta. manchester orchestra. and animal collective |
fr33convict
04.08.10 | I don't know about the deftones, didn't like adrenaline, saturday night wrist, or their self-titled much. |
eternium
04.08.10 | The Mars Volta is overrated, Animal Collective is decent at the most, Manchester Orchestra is good from what I've heard, and haven't listened to The Dear Hunter. |
Niceinvader
04.08.10 | ahh they may be overrated but they make some pretty damn consistent music.
Oh and portugal the man too because of the amount of music thye've put out over a short period of time. though i've never really got into them. |
couldwinarabbit
04.08.10 | "Tool is maybe consistent at sucking" Good Call.
Converge and Opeth are the only bands on here with stellar releases, and that's only One or Two albums for each.
Missing: Aphex Twin, Radiohead, and Fugazi. |
eternium
04.08.10 | I mentioned in the comments earlier that I should have put Radiohead.
I've only listened to early Fugazi (which is awesome) and no Aphex Twin. |
Niceinvader
04.08.10 | if you're gonna go electronic i'd say daft punk, portishead and 65daysofstatic |
eternium
04.08.10 | I love 65daysofstatic.
Daft Punk is too repetitive and annoying for me, though I think Justice is awesome.
Never listened to Portishead much, especially since Massive Attack is the only real trip-hop I listen to. |
Niceinvader
04.08.10 | dude i cannot wait for the new 65days album shit's gonna be epic.
I dunno about justice since they've only made one real album, although they are pretty decent. |
BigTuna
04.08.10 | I would also add Murder By Death |
eternium
04.08.10 | The songs 65dos have released are way more electronic than they are post-rock. We'll see how it turns out. |
couldwinarabbit
04.08.10 | Justice isn't that great. I listened to it when we had a hot french exchange student at school. But it's unremarkable. |
Mr_Coffee
04.08.10 | radiohead!!!
great list btw |
Niceinvader
04.08.10 | True but I think they are just expanding their sound and that's what good bands should do imo. |
eternium
04.08.10 | Of course. I'd love to see them live. |
Niceinvader
04.08.10 | For sure. Hey you ever listened to a band called evol intent? they make mean drumnbass that sounds similar to the new 65dos |
couldwinarabbit
04.08.10 | Ow I forgot Sonic Youth. They've been rock solid. |
eternium
04.08.10 | Sonic Youth is great.
I'll listen to evol intent in a minute. |
Inveigh
04.08.10 | pretty good list, although I wouldn't say 5 or 6 are all that consistent. I don't know much about 7 or 8, but other than that I agree. |
Slipping Away
04.08.10 | good call couldwinarabbit on aphex twin I'd second that |
Rikardur
04.21.10 | Good call on 1 and 8. |
