04.08.10 | @ carnifex: are you kidding? the zune software is prettier, more intutive in terms of adding albums and such and with the new 4.5 update it will have pretty much all the native file using that itunes does. Plus, zune smart dj is a more refined genius program using many more advanced algorigthms.
@ 8bit: the only upside to owning one i'd say is it's not another apple product that breaks down.

04.08.10 | Dude, Zune is WAYYYYY faster and WAYYYY cleaner than itunes. My brother has an ipod and still uses zune to listen, just itunes to sync.
Plus, the Zune HD is way better, as a music player, than the ipod touch. but the touch has better apps. |

Here's my list of complaints with Zune however, some of these are pretty minor so I may come across as a bit nitpicky.
-No last.fm support (though support is coming in time)
-No third party apps (as microsoft has no plans to release the development kit to the public)
-If you purchase stuff off of the marketplace, using microsoft points can be a real bitch when compared to merely putting in a credit card number and purchasing from the itunes store.
-The Zune software is pretty bloated and is a complete resource hog, Itunes was this way as well on Windows for a time until the 9.0 update.
I'll think of more when the time comes, but there's just a short list. |

04.08.10 | I purchased an ipod touch about a month ago and I find it far superior to the zune hd just because it's been out longer and the development kits been out forever. I think if microsoft were to release the sdk to the public, that the zune hd would be superior to the touch within possibly the next major release of the HD. |

Great functionality but after a while the zune starts slowing down and dragging to play (especially when you get it loaded with music) it likes to reboot for no reason as well.
Overall, i like the zune software, the device itself is just a raging pile of shit. and i agree, itunes store way more efficient for purchasing music. The zunepass, crap... if you decide to cancel your subscription you lose all of the music, podcasts, videos, and games that you've downloaded using the pass.
Masochist; to answer your question about the thrice vheissu cover. I actually got it from their website before they put out the alchemy index... not sure if its still available but yea for sure man its pretty effin shhweeeet!
leftyspank thanks jackass, however, yes yes they do, drop them once from 12" off the ground and say goodbye to your music collection. Didn't even have this last one for 5 months and it's stuck in restore mode, it would have been way easier for microsoft to just put a message on the screen that read you are fucked and buy another one cuz this POS will never restore. (no thanks to zune.net for giving me some BS run around about having to update zune software, uh i have the latest version thank you! oh and then saying that it cant be restored until i update the latest version of windows update, then microsoft update, damn you bill gates) i am bitter and i have every intention on purchasing an ipod very soon.
the software is very bulky... it takes so much to run but it looks soooooo much better than itunes, but i guess that's all aesthetics right?
I only hope that ipod doesnt take a plunge for the worst right as i buy one... |
