| 15 Best Songs In Metalcore
Here are the fiteen best songs to be found in the heyday of metalcore. Sprawling, epic tracks are preferred but if influential short tracks are included. | 1 | Curl Up And Die God Is In His Heaven, All Is Right with the World
A amazing 14+ minute epic adventure that somehow showcases everything great about the band whilst pushing beyond previously known barriers of metalcore songwriting. | 2 | Botch Man The Ramparts
The finale of Botch's magnum opus, "We Are the Romans." This 11 minute song was the last song "played" by this legendary band at their infamous final show in Seattle, Washington. | 3 | Between the Buried and Me Swim to the Moon
A amazing lesson in songwriting that marks the transformation of BTBAM from the best thing going in contemporary music to the best thing going in progressive music. | 4 | Converge Jane Doe
The closing and title track of the band's most famous release, "Jane Doe." This is the peak of Converge's chemistry, songwrting, ability, and everything else that makes them one of the best punk bands of all time. | 5 | Knut March
The closing track to the Challenger is this nearly 20-minute thriller that is nearly unrivaled by metalcore in its ambition. | 6 | Quell System Of Signs, Symbols, Gestures, Or Rules...
This is a amazing roller-coaster ride of aggressiveness and ambiance. Featuring a well-used three-guitar attack, plenty of distortion, and a beautiful conclusion aided by a piano. | 7 | Cursed Opposable Thumbs
The closing track of the band's debut "One" was one of their most ambitious tracks of their unfortunately short-lived career. | 8 | Shai Hulud Ending the Perpetual Tragedy
The fine closing track of the band's magnum opus, "That Within Blood Ill-Tempered." | 9 | Keelhaul Khmir
Keelhaul is the master of sludge-influenced, instrumental hardcore - this six plus minute song from their debut is a great example. | 10 | The Dillinger Escape Plan Sugar Coated Sour
The first track from the legendary "Calculating Infinity." Blaring this opening track is still a shock to any and all metalcore fans. | 11 | Coalesce Wild Ox Moan
This, the best track from their return to glory full-length, ensured that these hardcore veterans aren't slowing down anytime soon. | 12 | Starkweather Silken Garotte / The Infinity Coil
Underground metalcore at its finest - this is dark, brooding, but also tasteful. One of many example's of the band's stellar songwriting. | 13 | Cave In Juggernaut
The first choice when reviewing Cave In's older, heavier material. | 14 | No Made Sense Elico Moieties
The best of several 10+ minute epics to be found on the band's progressive debut "Epillanic Choragi." | 15 | Breather Resist Midas In Reverse
The best track on the band's only full-length release, "Charmer." | |
FeralMemories
03.29.10 | Good job | bloc
03.29.10 | Gotta add Five Years or The Year Summer Ended in June. | JAV
03.29.10 | Pretty good choices.
Swim to the Moon is so boring imo tho. | Insurrection
03.29.10 | 3 isn't even the best on the album, but great call on 15. That entire album is incredible. | Inveigh
03.29.10 | good list, but I think if you're listing the 15 best songs in metalcore, it shouldn't be based on song length as most of these bands are more on the hardcore side and short song lengths are a staple of hardcore. Just sayin.
Also, I'd go with 43% Burnt off CI and Dead Is Dead off OX, but I love the songs you chose. | Brokenjewel
03.29.10 | No Made Sense don't seem all that metalcore, good band though.
Cool to see 8 and 15 on here. | EnricoPalazzo
03.29.10 | Better than most of the crap metalcore lists. Good Job [2] | GibTG
03.29.10 | Thanks everyone...
Song length was important to me because I'm looking for the most ambitious and memorable songs in my "favorites" of metalcore.
It's true that BTBAM and No Made Sense and very progressive and border the metalcore label, but I think the root of their sound is found in early metalcore bands for the most part. | Yazz_Flute
03.29.10 | 5 is so boring though. Whacked Out or Ice Will would have been a much better choice. | GibTG
03.29.10 | The more I think about it, I am considering removing the progressive metal bands. I'd appreciate any input on what to put in its place. | Yazz_Flute
03.29.10 | Yeah I wouldn't include 3 as it really isn't metalcore.
Johnny Truant - A Day in the Death
Misery Signals - Five Years
Posion the Well - Slice Paper Wrists
Unearth - Bled Dry | Brokenjewel
03.29.10 | Earth Crisis - Constrict
Snapcase - Zombie Prescription
Boy Sets Fire - After the Eulogy | GibTG
03.29.10 | Snapcase, Misery Signals, and Earth Crisis were included in my brainstorming for this list. They will probably find their ways back on... | ShadowRemains
03.29.10 | Unearth: Giles | beefshoes
03.29.10 | I would def have a BTBAM song but I don't STTM to be very "Metalcore" I could see Shevanel Cut A Flip or More Of Myself To Kill here though. | Insurrection
03.29.10 | "Mordecai" is better than both of those. |
