| My Favorite Bands Of All Time
These are the bands that I consider to be the best. They are my go-to bands. These are the ones I rattle off when people ask. | | 1 | Porcupine Tree
Addicting. Extremely talented group. Their songs range from acoustic to downright metal and all in between. The best part of this bands catalog is their harmonies. Weaving them in and out while at the same time launching a soaring guitar. They are recreating prog. Classic and pretty much number 1 now. Why hasn't anyone ever heard of them where I live? I am their biggest pitch man. | | 2 | Pink Floyd
All time classic group. The Wall, Dark Side, Animals...all of it is an impressive career that you can listen to any time, anywhere. They defined prog. | | 3 | Rush
The power trio (bitchen like Cream). I love their sci-fi tendencies and mythological leanings. Cygnus Book 2 is perhaps the finest 18+ tune ever written. They made prog cool. | | 4 | Genesis
I love both sides of Genesis. The Gabriel years are what started me on the prog superhighway. The Collins era got me into pop-rock. Yes....I like prog...so what. | | 5 | Eagles
A great feel good band. The mingling of rock with a dash of country is magic with these guys. Listened to them when I was a kid and I listen to them even more now. | | 6 | Yes
The other band that got me going 90 on the prog superhighway. Classic material old and new. Some of their stuff is an aquired taste, but once you get what they do, you really understand how awesome they are. | | 7 | Black Sabbath
The gateway to heavy metal. This is what started everyone off. I don't listen to this stuff in the dark. | | 8 | The Who
Classic rock defined. Great songs, great albums, great band. | | 9 | Boston
Boston got me into classic rock. When someone says classic rock...I think Boston and one of my favorite songs of all time "More than a Feeling". Then I think of my favorite guitar solo, "Hitch a Ride". | | 10 | Collective Soul
Whoa...now hold on a second. Yes I know a bit different here, but hear me out. I own every album by this amazing group. I have heard it all. It is a pop-rock guilty pleasure for me. Tight song structures, catchy beats, and mindless lyrics. You gotta love this band. Out of 100+ songs, I find I dislike maybe 5. All the others suck you in and rock you out until the track changes and they do it all over again. Ed Roland can write a song. Experience them before you judge me! | |
