Metal Subgenres Ranked

These are some of the sub-genres of metal, ranked according to my opinion towards them. *NOTE* i know im prolly missing some but these are the ones i've heard so thats what im basing it off of
8Deathcore

I really hate deathcore, its talentless drivel that is really annoying and just completely pointless. BMTH was all i needed to hear to immediately put me off to this entire genre
7Black Metal

I honestly don't have too much problems with black metal. the instrumentation is really quite good, but the overall feel of it is too gimmicky imo. lyrics also put me off, i'm not very religious, but they just strike me as ignorant and pretentious with the whole "Satan is better than God" thing.
6Power Metal

pretty much the same thing as black metal, it comes off as kinda gimmicky and the lyrics are awful, but the instrumentation is very good.
5Death Metal

excluding melo-death, straight death metal is unappealing to me. im not into the whole death growl type of vocals, at least not for the whole song.
4Thrash

I mostly listen to classic thrash, and it actually is quite entertaining. the instrumentation is great and the vocals and lyrics aren't nearly as off-putting as other genres.
3Melodic Death metal

Intricate instrumentation with a melodic edge is really what gets me into this, and the vocal style is very appealing, as well as most of the lyrics.
2Metalcore

metalcore takes alot of flak for its influx of unoriginal bands, but there are a few shining examples, such as Botch and August Burns Red that show the type of music that could be produced by these bands. Unfortunately those few bands who are utter trash(5FDP, BFMV) bog the genre down with their generic songwriting
1Progressive Metal

Some of the best metal and music i've ever heard, the lyrics are often astounding and the balance of good songwriting and technicality keep this genre from ever becoming stale, especially with bands like Cynic and Protest The Hero
