Soundwave 2010 (perth) Results

Considering last year's Soundwave was quite impressive (albeit slightly hampered by certain folk) I was weary as to whether this yer could match it. It did.
1RX Bandits

Only caught a few songs by the band whilst trying to find stage 5, which was not at all where the map of the festival said it was. Band sounded pretty good.
2A Wilhelm Scream

By the time I found the stage the band had all but finished, caught a single song by them, seemed intense as fuck though.
3Sunny Day Real Estate

First band I got to see properly, opened with argubaly their two best tracks; In Circles and Seven. Pretty sure most of their set was songs from Diary. Must make a point they're very similar studio to live. But they certainly bring a fair bit of energy to their performance.
4Taking Back Sunday

Only caught them for a little while, wasn't too impressed. Instrumentally they were very solid and the backing vocalist was great. but Adam Lazzara was terrible, sang flat a few times, voice dropped out here and there. Was not impressed.
5Set Your Goals

First pop-mosh for the day, fun band. Although I swear one of their vocalists looks about 16.
6Glassjaw

Contenders for the best band of the day, the band gave off a ton of energy and Daryl Palumbo is literally a god on the microphone.
7Paramore

Would totally drill Hayley Williams.
8Placebo

Technically I didn't "see" them because I was too busy getting at the very front for AFI but I heard them and they sounded pretty great.
9AFI

Epic performance, another contender for best act. Only downside was a large number of people who obviously had little to no experience moshing, trying to mosh. Seriously who goes barefoot to a moshpit and complains when they get hurt? What did you expect? Band was great, pretty much everything sounded right. Davey's voice had improved from the last time I saw them.

11Architects

After being thoroughly crushed at AFI, I hung back for Architects, band was intense and had a ton of energy, even got a moderate sized circle pit going.
12Gallows

Another contender. Had the biggest circle pit of the day literally went from the stage to the fence offed 18+ area. Which was fair amount of distance, frank carter crowd surfed, stage dived, told everyone to go see Escape the Fate and boo them. Definitely one of the best hardcore bands I've seen live.
13Jimmy Eat World

Caught about 15 mins of their set. By this time the crowd was huge and there was no chance of me seeing faith no more so I went to other stages, Jimmy eat world not so great live.
14Whitechapel

As much as their music isn't very original, they throwdown live. About 6 circle pits and one epic wall of death. Caught one of their guitarists picks, it was purple. Their vocalist is incredibly strong live.
15A Day To Remember

Much better live than they are on cd, as far as an end to the day they were fun and still intense enough to get a sweat going. Plus I got to be Mr. Hero and protect 2 of my girls from crazed slam dancers and there's nothing better than getting to rub up on women and elbow douchebags in the head every few minutes.
