Albums With Only ~50 Ratings

I can't believe these albums only have about 50 ratings. Listen to this stuff.
1Cobalt
Gin

Got this recently. It's a well-balanced album, and good mix of different metal stylings. McSorley's vocals &
Wunder's drumming are memorable throughout. The album flow and pacing is also really kickass, you'll
never skip a track.
2 Man or Astro-Man?
Destroy all Astro-Men

Modern surf with funny sound clips from old movies/TV shows. Great for a casual listen or a party, if you're
not big into surf, this can do it for you.
3Doomriders
Darkness Come Alive

Pummeling metal with the catchiness of a Danzig record. Its got choruses you can't forget, and riffs that'll
be stuck in your head for days.
4Goes Cube
Another Day Has Passed

Imagine if Thrice grew a pair. Another Day Has Passed shares their same post-hardcore sensibilities but adds
some meaty sludge influences into the mix.
5A Place to Bury Strangers
A Place to Bury Strangers

An electro-rock attack on the senses. It shares the same maxed-out sounds ala early Nine Inch Nails, giving it a loud and in-charge
personality.
You can't deny good rock music like this.
6 The Ponys
Celebration Castle

Chicago rock band with some of the catchiest damn songs you'll ever hear. Simple, light, and rockin'. Sort
of like Les Savy Fav, but less punky.
7 Kinski
Alpine Static

Imagine Black Sabbath binging on Sonic Youth for a few years and kicking out Ozzy. Sounds awesome,
right? Right.
8Early Man
Closing In

This 2-piece (now a 4-piece?) is thrashy and kind of like early Ozzy solo stuff. Mike Conte's vocals could peel the
paint off the walls - nothing else would suit this band's sound.
9Boris
Smile

I mean, really? Pink is one of the best albums I can think of and this has 1/3rd of the ratings. It just
doesn't compute.
10Celeste
Misanthrope(s)

Warning: this may be too brutal for your ears. (It's also free, so there's no reason this shouldn't have 100
ratings: ://www.denovali.com/celeste/ )
11Shellac
1000 Hurts

It's a Steve Albini album.
12Valient Thorr
Immortalizer

Now that they're touring with Mastodon, BTBAM, & Baroness - I'm sure more people will give these guys a
listen. Imagine Guns 'N' Roses with a lifetime subion to High Times. Fans of Fu Manchu will rejoice.
13Lye By Mistake
Fea Jur

With all of the hype around groups like Scale the Summit, Animals as Leaders, and Behold... The Arctopus,
these guys should really be getting more attention. They're every bit as competent as the aforementioned
trio.
14Iron Age
The Sleeping Eye

Along with Lazarus AD, these guys are the future of thrash. While Lazarus AD may have a more modern
approach, Iron Age seem to look backward. Now tell me that you've heard it before, but then gasp when I
tell you they take inspiration from stuff BEFORE the 80s. Yeah, they aren't you're typical 80s throwback
thrashers - and that's a good thing.
15 The Dismemberment Plan
Emergency & I

One of the greatest albums of the 90s you probably haven't heard.
