Nirvana were good, Oasis weren't. |

02.27.10 | Nirvana is pretty bad in my opinion. Oasis is mediocre. |
crazyblinddude
02.27.10 | nevermind is really overrated
but overall i guess oasis is alot more |
synergy
02.27.10 | People who think nirvana is overated probably don't have an idea of why they are considered legendary. They hear songs by them and think "oh well they're not that great" but they don't look at them with a historical perspective and see what they did to popular music in the 90's
People who think Oasis are overated are the same as above, although they were less impactful but still good.
Or people think they are overated because they don't live in england |

02.27.10 | Oasis is far more overrated |

02.27.10 | Nirvana was way more overrated, and I say that even though I live in Seattle.
But neither of them have ANYTHING on the Stones or Beatles. |

02.27.10 | Nirvana sucks ass so i'll go with them, but both suck, Oasis is marginally better |

02.27.10 | @synergy I would say Oasis was equally influential in England as Nirvana was in the states.
I would say by the general public both bands get overrated. Music snobs, however, hate on Oasis a lot and praise Nirvana. Nirvana wasn't as revolutionary as everyone says they were. Neil Young had grunge music, even if it wasn't called it at the time, well established even early in his career.
But while Nirvana gets this praise Oasis gets ripped apart for being a wannabe Beatles band, while this is somewhat true it's completely untrue. Oasis' 1st two albums are unique and only Radiohead has received more recognition in England in recent history. |
Deviant.
02.27.10 | I think Nevermind is one of the most overrated albums of all time. Granted at the time it may have been considered 'revolutionary' or whatever, but personally I think it's one of their weaker efforts |

02.27.10 | nirvana's not terrible, but they are overrated. oasis, imo, are underrated (at least in the states). they have tons of amazing songs and the only ones that ever get played here in the u.s. are "wonderwall," "champagne supernova," and "live forever." songs like "the masterplan," ""whatever," "don't look back in anger," "slide away," etc. will prove that oasis (particularly noel gallagher) do have a shitload of talent. |
MUNGOLOID
02.27.10 | oasis underrated? my ass! |
WeepingBanana
02.27.10 | they're both equally acclaimed.
but since oasis suck more, oasis |
Satellite
02.27.10 | I don't think either is overrated (in fact I fucking hate that word), but Oasis is definitely a lot more influential than people give them credit for.
(What's the Story) Morning Glory > Nevermind |
intothepit83
02.27.10 | I don't look at Nirvana being overrated, despite having despised Kurt Cobain and his music. Some of their music is okay, but it was more of a cultural impact with them. When a band has that much impact on a generation, than you cannot call them overrated.
Oasis is not overrated because I think they deserve the praise they already get. Some songs are great and memorable, some songs are completely forgettable, and some songs just are downright terrible. They get praise for what they do right, but I hear them get criticized enough for their faults as well. |

02.28.10 | both a load of rubbish |

02.28.10 | both great.... Nirvana is deserving the hype while Oasis had two great albums (the first two that is) |
bodiesinflight57
02.28.10 | Nirvana, whether you like them or not, enabled all the alternative rock bands that are big out there today to become big, and their influence is huge. Personally I also think they were a great band.
Oasis were basically Beatles rip-offs but their first two albums were well good...shame about the ones that followed that. |

02.28.10 | nirvana>oasis |
Titan50
02.28.10 | Nirvana are almost underrated. I just hate it when Nevermind gets so much more acclaim than In Utero
And Oasis' first two albums are fantastic |
MUNGOLOID
03.01.10 | well titan50, without nevermind, there probably wouldn't be in utero. |

03.01.10 | Nirvana is quite awesome.
Oasis is okay.
Both are overrated, but that still doesn't make them bad by any means. |

03.22.10 | Oasis-Uplifting classic albums, have a good time.
Nirvana-Leave me alone I wanna die even though I've got loads more money then most people. WAH WAH WAH
Alot of American 90's bands were effectively suicide artists. |
