02.20.10 | Honorable Mentions:
Irreversible - Sins
Bossk - .1 EP
Ocoai - Breatherman
Mouth of the Architect - Quietly
Grayceon - This Grand Show
Adai - I Carry...
By the way, I didn't consider "Lazarus Bird" by Burst since it is far too progressive and just doesn't have the same "feel" as many of my other choices. It is damn good, really damn good, but not be considered in a list of post-metal. |

02.20.10 | Cool list. Would've switched 3 with MotA. Awesome there's someone else that knows about Irreversible. |
GibTG
02.20.10 | In my mind, I tried to get Irreversible on the list but when I realized I forgot about Intronaut "Sins" got the boot. Regardless, it is a pretty damn good post-metal album.
I understand your proposed switch with Humanfly, they are a relatively unknown band.
I think the weakest choice left here is either Humanfly or Cult of Luna, but that's just because I have a big man-crush on Caleb Scofield. |

02.20.10 | I thought Eternal Kingdom was real solid. Could've been better, but still good.
Humanfly is a good band but that MotA album is much more better. |
Volt2187
02.20.10 | I love 1 and 2. Definetely checking out the others. |
Burn2Burn
02.20.10 | 4 is one of my favorite albums of all time, no big deal. |

02.20.10 | 1. Post-metal isn't a genre
2. Prehistoricisms slays |

02.20.10 | "Post-metal isn't a genre"
lol |
maqwep
02.20.10 | if youre going to call bossk post metal you can call lazarus bird post metal.
stupid genre tag anyways. |
GibTG
02.20.10 | I don't want to argue about genres with anyone but what exactly are you going to call the dozens of bands like Isis, Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Rosetta, Pelican, Calisto, Tephra, Year of No Light, Mouth of the Architect, Minsk, Irreversible, Omega Massif, Kehlvin, .... Need I go on?
"Quietly" by MotA really didn't do it for me, maybe I haven't let it grow on me enough yet. |

02.20.10 | "post-metal is an intrinsically incorrect term that nevertheless accurately describes a certain type of music"
- taken from some dude from last.fm. |
GibTG
02.20.10 | Bossk release two twenty-minute songs and calls it a album, which is very different from Burst. The early releases from Burst consist of 3-4 minute bursts (pun not intended) of hardcore-influenced metal.
Besides, "Lazarus Bird" should be considered best metal album of 2008. Best post-metal album is petty in comparison. |

02.20.10 | I consider Prey On Life more post-metal than Lazarus Bird |
GibTG
02.20.10 | I don't know, both still rely heavily on vocals and the songs on "Prey on Life" are all pretty short - even though there are some brief atmospheric moments.
I just consider "Lazarus Bird" f***ing amazing. I know that! |

02.20.10 | Prey On Life had this song called "Fourth Sun" and that was post-metal up the ass. Amazing song. |
GibTG
02.20.10 | I will give you that. "Fourth Son" is three minutes of post-metal glory. |
HenchmanOfSanta
02.20.10 | Atmospheric sludge is the pretty commonly accepted genre name.
And I feel like Intronaut are something different entirely at times. |
Athom
02.20.10 | i should be seeing Intronaut tonight down the street but nooooooooooo. pshhh shitty decision there. |
