Emim 02.18.10	I played Oblivion before Morrowind, so I noticed the things that Ob did better when I played it. Morrowind's magic system was a lot better though. @Willie: It's impossible not to. Pretending to be a "cop" is great fun.
klap 02.18.10	i just thought they really neutered the quests in oblivion, there was a lot less shit to do in oblivion and the fighters and mage's guild quests were weak. the best thing about oblivion over morrowind is the fast travel system - i used to fucking hate traveling everywhere in morrowind because it took so fucking long
Emim 02.18.10	Yeah, see things like fast travel weren't an upgrade, they were the norm. So it REALLY stood out when I first played Morrowind.

Willie 02.18.10	I liked Oblivion, but I think Fallout was more fun. Playing cop took about as much time as the actual game, I think. That's one thing I don't like about Mass Effect - I can't kill everybody.
Prophet178 02.18.10	I can see how Morrowind would look like the weaker game when you play it after Oblivion. I guess it's one of those 'you had to be there' kind of games. There really wasn't anything like Morrowind before it came out. Even after playing Oblivion I prefer Morrowind, there is more stuff to do and the story had more depth.

The ability to do whatever the fuck you want without worrying about the consequences is really what keeps Fallout 3 from being just another average RPG.

Prophet178 02.18.10	I just prefer open world western RPG's to glorified shooters with dialogue options. Mass Effect 2 was such a step backwards for the series. They took out pretty much all the RPG elements like inventory management, trading, team control (even more watered down) and exploration. Now it's just a shooter with a quest log and classic Bioware dialogue. Just too streamlined of a game for me. I think Mass Effect 3 will be the best in the series for sure. Dragon Age kills ME2 in every way possible in my eyes as far as 09 Bioware games.
Satellite 02.18.10	IMO they just trimmed the fat and shifted the focus to gameplay (the cover system fucking rules). Did you honestly enjoy stopping the action every 10 minutes because you had to convert half of your inventory into omni-gel? That said, I still need to get Dragon Age.

klap 02.18.10	open world RPGs are where its at, after morrowind i just couldn't get into any linear ones except for KOTOR (and the 2nd one wasn't even that good). i tried playing dragon age but it just bored the shit out of me
Prophet178 02.18.10	Yeah the gameplay was vastly improved, but those RPG elements I love were nowhere to be found. When I ended up using the same piece of armor and switched guns twice the entire game I was kinda disappointed.
Willie 02.18.10	I like both kinds. I'm still a sucker for the old-school RPGs (like the new Final Fantasy that's coming out later this year). I'm kind of glad that ME2 took out the inventory management, because the system in the first game was one of the most annoying aspects of it. As for my team, I only ever sent them in to be human bullet sponges anyway, so loss of control isn't that big of a deal to me either. There's just something about Dragon Age that makes me love it. I'm in the middle of my fourth play-thru right now. I only stopped to replay ME1 to refresh my memory before buying ME2.

Willie 02.21.10	Call of Duty was a good game for about six hours. The muliplayer is fun in small doses. There are better FPS out there, like Bad Company.
LepreCon 02.21.10	I got the GOTY Edition because I was patient enough (i.e. broke) to wait for it, came with ALL the DLC preloaded into the game and it absolutely rocked so better late than never to get on board this awesome game. I played through it three times to get the platinum trophy

Goldeneye rules all FPS. @Phantom: New Vegas is looking great already, should be another great game. The problem with COD online, is that the people on there ONLY play Call of Duty. They are also convinced that COD = second coming of the Messiah.
