Battle Of The Bands [part 16]

Round 16 of 18. That last battle was extremely close, with Between The Buried And Me getting a whole bunch of votes at the last second and nearly overtaking The Dillinger Escape Plan. They almost did, with only three votes separating the two. This next round is a little more 'random' than the last ones have been, but hopefully it will be a close a battle as the last one was. Enjoy! Here are the rules again: - Each round there will be three bands - The band who receives the most votes (via comments) moves on to the next round. - Each round lasts 24 hours. - Only one vote each round per member. - These are the preliminary rounds, then there are also quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals - In the event of a tie, a faceoff will occur between the disputed albums. - The final two will be an EPIC SHOWDOWN! So, let's get started: NOTE: The 'average sputnik rating' I get by adding all of the bands album ratings together and averaging them out.
1The Blood Brothers

You're welcome PirateSquid. Latest album: Young Machetes / Average Sputnik rating: 3.59 / The Blood Brothers were a Seattle-based post-hardcore outfit formed in the Eastside suburbs of the city in 1997. The quintet released five albums during their 10 year existence that covered multiple styles of music, characterized by dueling vocals with rapid stylistic shifts, energetic rhythmic work, and nonstandard guitar chords. Earlier work had roots in math core and punk while later work became more abstract, often described as post-hardcore. They?ve worked with a myriad of producers, such as Ross Robinson, Guy Picciotto, and John Goodmanson. The band officially broke up in November 2007 over the band?s website. Each member of the band has since moved on to new musical projects.
2Minus The Bear

Latest album: Into The Mirror EP / Average Sputnik rating: 3.69 /
A couple of nice young boys (formerly members of Kill Sadie and Sharks Keep Moving) from Seattle, making fantastic music, the likes of which there is a tremendous possibility you've never encountered before. Three full lengths, three EPs, and even a song on a compilation for breast cancer. This is what Minus the Bear has released since 2001. Matt Bayles (Keyboards/Production) announced his leaving of the band at the beginning of January, 2006. His last show was January 28th, 2006. He has been replaced by touring keyboardist Alex Rose. Minus the Bear recently announced a late 2009 tour and an album to be released in "early 2010".
3Wu-Tang Clan

Latest album: 8 Diagrams / Average Sputnik rating: 3.74 / The Wu-Tang Clan is a hip collective of nine New York rappers, legendary for their 1993 debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). With 36 Chambers, and early Wu solo albums, they changed the face of rap, introducing surreal lyricism and RZA's production techniques ranged from raw to cinematic. The members are GZA/Genius, RZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Method Man, Masta Killa, and U-God. As the 90s progressed, their group and solo efforts became less critically acclaimed, and faded out of the spotlight for a while. Their popularity resurged with more recent releases getting attention, with Ghostface's Fishscale, Masta Killa's No Said Date. The renewed interest lead to their 2007 group album 8 Diagrams, their first since ODB's death in 2004, and 6 years since their last.
