Battle Of The Bands [part 10]

Round 10 of 18. Faith No More took the last round in a fairly close battle. This next round features some of the most famous musicians of all-time. Enjoy! Here are the rules again: - Each round there will be three bands - The band who receives the most votes (via comments) moves on to the next round. - Each round lasts 24 hours. - Only one vote each round per member. - These are the preliminary rounds, then there are also quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals - In the event of a tie, a faceoff will occur between the disputed albums. - The final two will be an EPIC SHOWDOWN! So, let's get started: NOTE: The 'average sputnik rating' I get by adding all of the bands album ratings together and averaging them out.
1The Beatles

Latest album: The Remasters / Average Sputnik rating: 3.64 / The single biggest band of all time, The Beatles need no introduction. Over 30 years after their split, the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death made global headlines this year, just months after Paul McCartney opened and closed London's Live 8 extravaganza. In other words, even though we're now a long way past the band's existence, their legacy is virtually incalculable.
2Frank Zappa

Latest album: Zappa's Menage / Average Sputnik rating: 3.69 /
Frank Zappa is arguably the most genre-spanning innovative artist of the 20th century. In his 30 year career he's pushed the
boundaries for avant-garde/art rock, jazz, doo wop, pop, R&B, among many others. As well as toying with these genres, he also
ventured into the less contemporary, composing pieces with full orchestras and a synthesizing machine called a Synclavier. He was

3Radiohead

Latest album: Right Place Right Time DVD / Average Sputnik rating: 3.73 / Radiohead is a British band with a very... ahem... 'different' sound. Actually, they have no true definable sound, as it changes from album to album. This is part of the allure of Radiohead - what the Hell are they gonna do next? Their first taste of success was from MTV's promotion of their single "Creep" off of their Pop/Rock debut album, Pablo Honey, and Radiohead initially went for a sound that drew inspiration from U2, 80's rock, and the new music of the 90's. Their second album, The Bends, met with huge acclaim and success, and defined a solid guitar rock sound for the band. It also moved away from much of the sound of the prior album. Their third release, OK Computer, caught everyone off guard - an epic alternative album, loaded with rollicking emotion, incredible instrumentation, with heaps of texture and dynamic as well as some electronica and trip-hop influences. For their next trick, they would explore these influences, mostly electronica and a kind of "Intelligent Techno", surprising everyone who was sure that this band had "no surprises" left. Their next albums were not guitar oriented albums at all, and sounded like nothing the band had ever produced before.
