Battle Of The Bands [part 2]

Here's the second round of Sputnik battle of the bands. With RX Bandits taking the last round in a huge upset, this proves how unpredictable this game can be. Here are the rules again. - Each round there will be three bands - The band who receives the most votes (via comments) moves on to the next round. - Each round lasts 24 hours. - Only one vote each round per member. - These are the preliminary rounds, then there are also quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals - In the event of a tie, a faceoff will occur between the disputed albums. - The final two will be an EPIC SHOWDOWN! So, let's get started: NOTE: The 'average sputnik rating' I get by adding all of the bands album ratings together and averaging them out.
1Circle Takes The Square

Latest album: As The Roots Undo / Average Sputnik rating: 4 / Circle Takes The Square was formed in Savannah, Georgia in early 2000. Soon after the forming, the band wrote songs for a demo CD for touring and soon after recorded for a split 7" with the mighty Pg.99. Following the release of the 7", co-founder Collin Kelly left the band and was replaced by Bobby Scandiffio in late 2004. In the early summer of 2003, the band recorded their debut full-length entitled 'As The Roots Undo', which received widespread critical acclaim.
2Cynic

Latest album: Traced In Air/ Average Sputnik rating: 3.45 / Cynic, alongside Death and Atheist, is the forerunner to [the] experimental side of death metal. Instead of sheer heaviness, Cynic incorporates jazz and ambient sections into their music while maintaining a level of technicality that is unheard of. Before splitting up in the mid 90s, Cynic left with merely one album, Focus, which stands as a testament to the opportunities of death metal. In 2007, Cynic reunited to do a couple shows across Europe. Their new album entitled 'Traced In Air' has been recorded and was released November 17 in Europe and November 25 in American in 2008.
3Mastodon

Latest album: Crack The Skye / Average Sputnik rating: 3.78 / Mastodon is a heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia. They are usually classified as a heavy metal group, but there have been debates on what specific subgenre they belong to. The Encyclopaedia Metallum classifies them as progressive sludge metal, but this is not widely accepted. Mastodon's style includes heavy (and sometimes quite technical) guitar riffs, complex, jazz-influenced drumming, and long, melodic instrumental interludes reminiscent of Pink Floyd
