Battle Of The Bands [part I]

Hey guys, I had an idea to do a Sputnik 'battle of the bands.' - Each round there will be three bands - The band who receives the most votes (via comments) moves on to the next round. - Each round lasts 24 hours. - Only one vote each round per member. - These are the preliminary rounds, then there are also quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals - In the event of a tie, a faceoff will occur between the disputed albums. - The final two will be an EPIC SHOWDOWN! So, let's get started: NOTE: The 'average sputnik rating' I get by adding all of the bands album ratings together and averaging them out.

AUGURY is a relatively new name in Montr?al?s musical landscape, yet the very idea of the band was in the air since the musicians met in 1997. But serious stuff began in the winter of 2001/2002 when lead/classical guitarist Mathieu Marcotte left his band Spasme and started auditioning a string of drummers to seriously start a complete outfit. Shortly after, he was joined by soprano vocalist Arianne Fleury and demented bass wizard Dominic ?Forest? Lapointe and started to jam complete songs.

Incredibly prolific punk-metal road dogs Converge were formed in 1990 and after several singles and the requisite growing pains, released their first full-length, Halo in a Haystack, in 1994. By the release of their fourth full-length, Jane Doe in 2000, Converge were regarded as one of the most original and innovative bands to emerge from the punk underground.
3RX Bandits

Based in Seal Beach, California, this band has mixed ska, punk, reggae, progressive rock and bits and pieces of everything else to form their sound. They started out amidst other California ska-influenced bands such as Reel Big Fish and No Doubt. Their first two releases: 'Those Damn Bandits' and 'Halfway Between Here and There' were heavily third wave ska-influenced. After being signed to Drive-Thru Records, they released a more serious album entitled 'Progress.' This was the first step of the band's evolution.
