Bandido
01.11.10 | Or I should say the Judd Apatow movie crew's movies ranked. My description sounds like I'm ranking the actors |
iarescientists
01.11.10 | pineapple express is the best fuck you |
Bandido
01.11.10 | I beg to differ |
Phantom
01.11.10 | 1 + 2 f yeahhhhhh |

theacademy
01.11.10 | no this kid got it perfect except i'd switch 5 and 3 |
Bandido
01.11.10 | Well pretty much every one of these movies are celebrated comedies of the past decade so... And I like Pineapple Express, just not as much as the others |
Bandido
01.11.10 | thank you academy |
theacademy
01.11.10 | in my opinion, 40 year old virgin was the funniest film since dumb and dumber, and stands far above anything that came out in the 2000's... only flicks that came close: Tropic Thunder, Clerks II, Me Myself and Irene |
Bandido
01.11.10 | Yeah Dumb and Dumber's my favorite movie so I cant put it that high but I feel like both Anchorman and 40 Year Old Virgin kind of introduced a new type of comedy that all movies practice now |
Romulus
01.11.10 | Pineapple Express was great |
Prophet178
01.11.10 | Superbad
Anchorman
Pineapple Express
Knocked Up
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
40 Year Old Virgin
Funny People
Pretty much ranked based on how many times i've watched them.

klap
01.11.10 | STEP BROTHERS |
EVedder27
01.11.10 | well done with pineapple express, was so over hyped. I happen to love Forgetting Sarah Marshall, so it may be my favorite of all of these, even though 5/7 are incredible. |
Transient
01.11.10 | pineapple express is waaaay better than anchorman and funny people, not sure about the rest though |
theacademy
01.11.10 | harold and kumar (1st one) > pineapple express
my list would go something like:
40 yov
observe and report (not technically apatow)
superbad
anchorman
knocked up
forgetting sarah marshall
you don't mess with the zohan
funny people
fanboys (not technically apatow)
walk hard
pineapple express
love you man (not technically apatow)
step brothers
talledega nights
kicking and screaming
year one
|
SeaAnemone
01.11.10 | Funny People was so fucking horrible. Worst movie in recent memory by far. |
Chewie
01.11.10 | Anchorman is easily my favorite. So silly and spontaneous, but with so much valid and humor along with it. |
bloc
01.11.10 | only one i haven't seen is Funny People, but for the rest it seems like they're all equal. |
couldwinarabbit
01.12.10 | Broken Lizard is exponentially better. |
SHAKEandBAKE
01.12.10 | Talladega Nights > The Rest |
iarescientists
01.12.10 | what do you mean observe and report was "not technically apatow"
apatow had absolutely nothing to do with it |
AnotherBrick
01.12.10 | anchorman was fucking amazing, and it was pry the last will ferrel movie that i really liked, and then after that would be pineapple express ( as far as the rankings of this go) |
Bandido
01.12.10 | I feel like Pineapple Express was a poor man's Hot Fuzz as in it was a comedy that went for hardcore action but didn't succeed. It had its moments but becomes kinda tiring. And as for academy's list I only chose movies obviously made by Apatow and then had either Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd or Jason Segel. There are others but those guys are the main group |
theacademy
01.12.10 | @iarescientists all I meant to say (same with fanboys and love you man) is that the people working on the movie have a strong relationship with the apatow 'crew'
foot fist way was purchased and distributed thanks to apatow collaborators ferrell and mckay, hill actually met rogen on the set of knocked up, hill had a cameo in superbad, mcbride + rogen + anzari were all in apatow movies... |
iarescientists
01.12.10 | hmmm yeah i'm well aware of all that, but idk
i just got mad respect for jody hill, ben best, and danny mcbride and don't want them to get pegged as a part of the apatow gang when i feel like they are capable of starting something new in hollywood |
DiceMan
01.12.10 | 40 year old virgin was hilarious, but Funny People wasn't that bad. Really. It wasn't laugh out loud funny, but I found it to be wildly entertaining. |
theacademy
01.12.10 | @iare totally agree. Saw observe and report and love you man back to back, and needless to say I will never need to watch the latter again... |
Inveigh
01.12.10 | I liked Funny People quite a bit.. just wasn't a balls-out comedy like the rest of these. |
Jesuslaves
01.12.10 | 1. Knocked Up
2. Superbad
3. 40 Year Old Virgin (dragged on wayyy too long, all the comedy disappeared once his relationship with girl got serious)
4. Pineapple Express
5. Anchorman
6. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
I haven't seen Funny People. |
BallsToTheWall
01.12.10 | Forgetting Sarah Marshall pretty much sucked. Jason Segel redeemed himself with I Love You Man which> than any movie here. |
Jesuslaves
01.12.10 | I haven't seen I Love You Man either, though the trailers didn't really appeal to me.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall was a decent movie, it just wasn't too funny. That one badly needed Seth Rogen. |
tombits
01.12.10 | Are you serious? Forgetting Sarah Marshell was a lolocaust. |
BallsToTheWall
01.12.10 | Watch it
Also WTF no mention of Year One. It might be a stupid movie but it had plenty of moments nonetheless. |
Dryden
01.12.10 | Pineapple Express ruled |
Bandido
01.13.10 | ah shit I completely forgot about I Love You Man and Year One. They'd probably take the spots behind Superbad. Funny People was funny just too long and Forgetting Sarah Marshall is fucking hilarious |
BumpyourBump
01.15.10 | You are gay! |
