The Hazards of Love
Never have I ever seen this much effort into making an album so cohesive,
so catchy, and so narrative; that it is clear without even looking into it, it
must have taken some time to complete this album. I promised myself to
not use the word "epic" to describe anything (cause it's lame :P) I can't
help myself but say that is album is epic in scope in everything it does.
Spanning 17 tracks making this album about an hour long, no second goes
wasted in the completion of the "story". This is an American Folk album with
the same ambitions as a Progressive Rock album but without all the filler

Hymn to the Immortal Wind
Post-Rock at it's very finest, every second from the beginning is extremely
vital to the completion of the album. Every moment is just full of emotion.
What makes this album stand out is that Mono also has a whole orchestra

...In Shallow Seas We Sail
Emery has "returned to form", more than making up for the hamfisted "I'm
Only a Man". With this release, Emery has created the best songs of their

Ox
This is the greatest "Comeback" album I have ever heard! What makes this
so special is that Coalesce has not released a full length for TEN YEARS!
People usually lose what makes them special after such a long time, but
Coalesce has not forgotten how to play their instruments and literally

Shadows
One thing that makes this album stick out this year is the production value,
in that it's actually really good, which makes it actually a leap in the genre.
Shadows is an extremely aggressive and at some parts actually heavy,
making it stand out amongst most other screamo releases this year. | | 6 |  | Converge
Axe To Fall
This album makes you go "HOLY SHIIIII this is FREAKIN AWESOME!" I mean
it! Listen to the album track "Axe To Fall" and if you are not blown away by
the screeching guitar riffs, pummeling drumming, crunchy bass beats, and
Bannon's unmistakable vocal's, then I'm sorry, but their is something

Y
Gone is the post-rock influence from European Screamo band "Daitro" on
their newest album subtly titlted "Y", now we have a more straight forward
approach which turns out pretty favorable. Songs are now much more accessible because of this and actually "fun", each song just making me
wish I knew French so even I can sing a long ;~; | | 8 |  | As Cities Burn
Hell or High Water
What makes As Cities Burn such a cool band is that, when they first started
out, they were a pretty technical metalcore band and then they lost a
singer for the best. When they lost their lead screamer they then shifted
towards a post-rockish post-hardcore band which brought favorable
results. And now we have "Hell or High Water", taking another genre
change, As Cities Burn resembles more like bands like The Decemberists
and even Copeland at times. The songs on Hell or High Water, play really
easily (no aggression to be found at all anymore) and are very catchy.
Sounds like songs you would play on a nice summer afternoon on your
porch with a nice glass of lemonade actually. All in all, it has been very
awesome to witness a band change so much within three LPs. | | 9 |  | Cursive
Mama, I'm Swollen
Lovely atmosphere, lovely instrumentation, and wonderful vocals with
clever lyrics, it's only what we can expect from Cursive. | | 10 |  | The Number Twelve Looks Like You
Worse Than Alone
The #12 has succeeded in creating their most mature album of their career
and sadly their last. Extremely spastic making this one of the #12's most
experimental album. Ranging from berserk duel vocals to spoken words to
full on haunting jazz ballads. | |

Did you find that Sharas vocals sound really similiar to Fiona Apple?? That was like my first thought. | JWT155
