| Opinions On My Top 10 Of 09
It was a weird year for me musically. I had such high expectations
for certain albums (cough: Alexisonfire) and they disappointed me
somewhat, and yet others came out of nowhere to be my favourites.
I also discovered a LOT of older music, and as such, here is my top
10 songs of 09. Feel free to rate, make suggestions, rec etc...thanks! | | 1 | | Thrice In Exile
This is a personal one, as it applies perfectly to my situation at the moment
(having moved to a new boarding school in a new continent by myself and
not feeling at home) and it just gets me every time...especially the ending. | | 2 | | P.O.S. Purexed
Re-introduced me to hip-hop...and not the mainstream stuff. Super
intelligent lyrics, great production, awesome drums...perfect. | | 3 | | RX Bandits My Lonesome Only Friend
Never heard these guys before this year, and I regret that. They are so
brilliant, technically perfect and with a lot of soul.. | | 4 | | Fightstar War Machine
Epic is the only word that can describe this song. | | 5 | | Gallows London is the Reason
The whole concept of this album is brilliant, and this album harks back to
the classic hardcore and metal of the 80's without sounding dated. | | 6 | | Q Tip Feelin'
Kamaal the Abstract is not a hip hpp album. It's a jazz album with a splash
of hip-hop, and that works amazingly well...I know this was supposed to be
released years ago, but I am glad it was released now so that I can fully
comprehend it. | | 7 | | Dance Gavin Dance NASA
This one snuck up on me. I expected this to be terrible and generic...like
Alesana, and I hear it and it blows my mind. The instrumentation is
ridiculous, and it all just works. | | 8 | | Alexisonfire The Northern
It had to be in here...as much as their album lowered my hopes, I still love
their music, and this song is promising for future albums. If the whole
record was like this, it would have been a 5! | | 9 | | Closure in Moscow Vanguard
Again, had no idea about this band, and they became my highest played
artists. Listen to the opening 5 seconds of this song, and tell me that it's
not awesome. | | 10 | | Invasion Conjure War
Just search it on Youtube. Soul-metal. 'Nuff said. | |

| EVedder27
12.18.09 | 3 is awesome but I actually prefer Bled to Be Free from that album. | JWT155
12.19.09 | Circles is my favorite Thrice song off the new record. The Northern is a great song and I really enjoyed 'Old Crows, Young Cardinals'. | Athom
12.19.09 | i thought Kamaal the Abstract was Q-Tip after listening to a lot of Prince. | Foxhound
12.19.09 | Your list title kinda grabbed me. Better than seeing My 09 List.
Closure in Moscow is pretty sick as is Rx bandits. | March_Of_Sand
12.19.09 | Couldn't agree more about 9. | pneumoniahawk93
12.19.09 | Redsky, I would disagree with you there...listen to the jams...it's definitely more jazzy, though i see where you are coming from with the Prince thing.. it is very funky. | pneumoniahawk93
12.19.09 | By the way guys, I would really recommend checking out 10...they are excellent. |
