Muse Ranked

Falling from grace, it seems like the Muse I had grown to love with Origin Of Symmetry and Absolution are never coming back. The majority of songs off Muse's past two albums are uninspired in comparison to their older efforts, with experiments that don't work (Supermassive Black Hole, Undisclosed Desires, and to an extent United States Of Eurasia), and the cheesy anthemic quality of some of these tracks (Starlight, Uprising, Invincible, Guiding Light) seeming out of place within the context of these albums. Passable, but uninspired tracks such as (Assassin, MK Ultra, Unnatural Selection) don't help these newer efforts. Not all is lost, however, influences from past albums can be seen expanded and improved upon with tracks such as Map Of The Problematique, City Of Delusion, Glorious, The Resistance, and I Belong To You. Even more experimental tracks such as Exogenesis and Knights Of Cydonia succeed on the restructuring of Muse's older sound, creating songs that are both progressive and familiar. It is that original sound that seems to be largely lost in Muse's current progression, nearly dashing the hopes of an Origin Of Symmetry II.
