I started drumming this year so I have been noticing drummers way more than ever before. These are my favorite drummers to listen to. | | 1 | Jon Karel - #12 Looks Like You
This guy is just insane. He plays unique, complex, extremely fast beats that blow my mind. | | 2 | Dave Turncrantz - Russian Circles
Not the most impressive drummer ever, but his beats always compliment the music perfectly and are really interesting. | | 3 | Zach Hill - Hella
Don't think I need to explain this one. | | 4 | Chris Tsagakis - RX Bandits/Sound of Animals Fighting
This is another drummer that just blows my mind all the time. | | 5 | Chris Hainey - Maps and Atlases
I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the drumming in Maps and Atlases is superb. This guy is very underrated. | | 6 | Joe Tomino - Dub Trio
I saw this band live and the drummer was awesome, kind of similar to Turncrantz. | | 7 | Andrew Forsman - The Fall of Troy
Though Thom outshines him most of the time, Andrew is a really great drummer. I have grown to appreciate his drumming just as much as Thom's guitar playing. | | 8 | Aaron Gillespie - Underoath
Aaron is one of my favorite drummers to play along with. His beats/fills aren't terribly complex, and they are often challenging but still doable. | | 9 | Vince Rogers - Former Tera Melos
Tera Melos is the band that got me into math rock, so when i heard Vince I was very confused. It's too bad he left Tera Melos. | | 10 | The Rev - Avenged Sevenfold
Another drummer outshined by the guitar players. I think the rev is the most talented member of a7x, and his drumming is the only reason I can listen to the self-titled album. His songs are great for learning/practicing double bass. | |
