Under The Influence

Bands and artist that influence my songwritting.
1Butch Walker/Marvie 3

my hero and idol in a way, have so much love and respect for this guy.
2Paul Westerberg/Replacements

Big 'mats fan, westerberg truly is a genius, let it be is one of the most effecting and greatest albums of rock music I have ever heard.
3Morrissey/The Smiths

There's a light that never goes out changed my life and made me listen to indie, where as before i was strictly a punk pop/hard rock guy, his deft and intelligent lyricism coupled with the tight muscianship of this band is something else.
4Kurt Cobain/Nirvana

Had a moment where I was transfixed and couldn't move, Kurt Cobain's actual sun glasses, the Jackie O's, were within touching distance with one of his guitars, I truly feel that was a sign that I should start listening to nirvana again, and since then became a bigger influence in what I do.
5Richey James/Manic Street Preachers

a great lyricist, vastly intelligent, his view on the world is very interesting and different.
6Bille Joe Armstrong/Green Day

got me into alternative music, as it did with lots of kids my age.
7Slash/Guns n' Roses

one of the reasons I picked up a guitar again.
8Ginger/The Wildhearts

when I first started writting, I happened to be listening to Earth Vs Era Wildhearts every melody I have written since for punk pop has always had slight nods to these melody machines.
9Jesse Lacey/Brand New

a great lyricist, one of the reasons I play a jazzmaster and my interest in dynamics.
10Others to mention

Elliott Smith,Dinosaur Jr,Goo Goo Dolls,Suede,Nick Cave,Pete Doherty,Failure,Paramore,Smashing pumpkins,Portishead, there is probably alot more I have forgotten to mention.....
