11.27.09 | Don't know if you've tried much Social Realist stuff, but anything by Ken Loach or Mike Leigh is probably a winner. |
fenny4
11.27.09 | All guy ritchie moives. Layer cake being the best British movie
ever made |
rodigo1

11.27.09 | Excellent list although Lock Stock is better than Snatch, just sayin'. |
Greggers
11.27.09 | Lock Stock > Snatch |
NovaSilver
11.27.09 | Withnail and I is excellent, so is A Private Function (Michael Palin on his own for once) as well as The Full Monty. Those are all comedies though, can't think if many serious films we do well. |
Deviant.
11.27.09 | Layer Cake was going to be Guy Ritchie but then he found Madonna
and Kabballah, so he ditched and made that god awful Swept Away.
It ended up being directed by the producer off Lock and Snatch.
Rumour is Pegg/Wright and Frost are working on another film, it's
part of their "Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy". |
Fugue
11.27.09 | Gonna add Four Weddings, All the Monty Python films, A Fish Called Wanda, The Italian Job, A Clockwork Orange, and my favorite Bond film Goldfinger |
klap
11.27.09 | In Bruges |
liledman
11.27.09 | danny boyle + wright/frost/pegg + guy ritchie = too much awesomeness.

rodigo1

thats why i asked for more joshua tree |
rodigo1
11.27.09 | and a clockwork orange is one of my favorite all time movies
but i consider Kubrick American and as such the film
doesnt make sense considering nearly entire cast is british and Kubrick lived in England for a shitload of time but hey he disallowed screenings of it there.
...so theres that i guess |
Surgeonfish
11.27.09 | 1 + 2 = Win. |
qwe3
11.27.09 | if you like Danny Boyle you should check out Sunshine |
qwe3
11.27.09 | oh and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was awesome |
RandMcNally
11.27.09 | You should try 'Sweet 16' by Ken Loach. Its set in Greenock (where I lived) on the Beautiful west coast of Scotland. But its pretty heavy stuff, about drugs, crime, poverty etc, more of an introspective indie movie.

11.27.09 | sunshine was awesome, i loved the ending but a lot of people i know who have seen it have gripes with the sudden style change |
qwe3
11.27.09 | i didnt really like that it descended into a sort of horror/chase type thing. kinda ruined the tension for me. i did like the very end though |
Kiran
11.27.09 | that movie was one of the most aesthetically pleasing things ever too, plus rose byrne is a total cutie
KANEDA WHAT DO YOU SEE |
qwe3
11.27.09 | yeah that was really nice to watch, like when it cut to a huge view of the ship with the front mirror shield lit up it was breathtaking.
danny boyle's such an incredible director. he just slays every genre one by one; sci fi, drama, horror, thriller, bollywood styled drama
impressive. |
rodigo1
11.27.09 | boyle does kill it in whatever he does
and if you guys dug sunshine aesthetically, you should check out the fountain by aronofsky
really different but just damn gorgeous
and clint mansell does a killer score |
Lions
11.27.09 | the fountain rules. I should probably check out sunshine. either way, awesome british films: this is england, dr. strangelove, clockwork orange, mindscape of alan moore, and a bunch of others. |
