Right, favorite comedian is Dave Chappelle, hands down. In the same vein as George Lopez, anyone can find him funny, but he's the funniest man alive if you've actually lived what he talks about. For example, he has a joke where he states that Black People don't know what Grape Juice is because they were raised on Grape Drink. Funny, but even funnier if you're someone who has actually been raised on $1.00 gallons of Grape Drink throughout his life (I'm laughing out loud simply thinking about it!). It also helps that he and I share birthdays ;-). So yeah...Chappelle first.
Beyond him, it's (in no particular order): Mitch Hedberg, Louis Black, Dmitri Martin, Jeff Dunham and particular jokes of Blue Collar (I like that real, slice-of-life comedy stuff that Bill Engvall tells). Bernie Mac was pretty damn funny, too. And of course George Lopez. Dane Cook has a couple of really funny jokes, but overall he's not that funny.
Oh...and I'd wager a guess that racism constitutes about 65% of all stand-up material nowadays. Might as well get used to it. |
