| Top 10 Metal Albums Of 2007
Runners up were: Nile - Ithyphallic, Dark Tranquility- Fiction, Architects - Ruin, The Ocean - Precambrian (How could I have forgotten this one D:) Sorry no United Abominations here. | 1 | | Pig Destroyer Phantom Limb
Phantom limb is my favorite Pig Destroyer record. It is my favorite grindcore record. It?s my favorite release of 2007. The whole album is filled with fantastic riffs and it just amazes me that 3 people are making THIS much noise. I?ve seen their video where J.R. Hayes screams above the other instruments with his voice and its incredible. One of the most talented groups out there. Recommended tracks: Heathen Temple, Loathsome, Girl in the Slayer Jacket. | 2 | | Born Of Osiris The New Reign
The New Reign is a really short album. Probably the only thing keeping it from being number 1. Even so, the amount of material that is here is insane. Very technical work, especially the drums, and Ronnie?s voice is what I expect a brutal vocalist to sound like. I have had the pleasure of seeing them live and they rocked. Recommended Tracks: Brace Legs, Bow Down, Abstract Art, Open Arms To Damnation. | 3 | | The Black Dahlia Murder Nocturnal
This is my favorite BDM album. Everything about this album is absolutely evil, and I love it. Every riff feels like it could shred your face off and listening to this album transports me into a horror movie. An awesome horror movie with Apes in it. :D Recommended tracks: Virally Yours, Warborn, What a Terrible Night to have a Curse. | 4 | | Between The Buried And Me Colors
Colors is considered by many to be BTBAM?s best album. I consider it to be their most influential. The whole album is just epic, and to deny their talent would be like denying air into your lungs. Recommended tracks: Prequel To The Sequel, Ants of the Sky, White Walls. | 5 | | Exodus The Atrocity Exhibition...Exhibit A
This is Exodus? latest album, the best thrash album of 2007. I am highly anticipating Exhibit B, as Exodus is my favorite Thrash metal band. This album produces some killer riffs that thrash metal is famous for and I just absolutely love the vocals. It?s not as good as Shovel Headed Kill Machine though, but not many thrash albums are. Recommended Tracks: Riot Act, Funeral Hymn, Iconoclasm, Bedlam 123. | 6 | | Ion Dissonance Minus The Herd
Whatever you wanna call this, Mathcore, Deathcore, I love it. The breakdowns are utterly brutal, and the rest of the songs are just as brutal. This is what I wanna listen to if I wanna pound my ears with noise. :D Recommended Tracks: The Surge, Shunned Redeemer, Void Of Conscience. | 7 | | The Dillinger Escape Plan Ire Works
The Dillinger Escape Plan is a very unique band and I was right to assume Ire works would be something different. That it is, it sounds completely unlike anything else I?ve heard before, minus a bit of miss machine. The tracks aren?t just the same either, they are very, very different from each other. Recommended Tracks: Milk Lizard, Nong Eye Gong, Fix Your Face, Lurch. | 8 | | Despised Icon The Ills Of Modern Man
Despised Icon is one of the forerunners of deathcore, and as such, they are usually at the head of the pack. Unsurprisingly, Ills is one of the best deathcore releases of 2007. With awesome breakdowns, and awesome riffs, they produce some of the best deathcore available. Recommended Tracks: In The Arms Of Perdition, Tears Of The Blameless, Quarantine, Oval Shaped Incisions. | 9 | | August Burns Red Messengers
This album has produces some of my favorite breakdowns, and solidifies August Burns Red as one of the best Metalcore bands. Being a Christian myself, their lyrics mean a lot more to me than other bands. Recommended Tracks: Back Burner, Up Against The Ropes, Composure. | 10 | | Car Bomb Centralia
I have just recently listened to this album and its awesome. No wonder these guys got to tour with Gojira. Their brand of mathcore is absolutely terrifying, give it a listen. Recommended Tracks: Solid Grey, H5N1, Pieces Of You, Rid. | |
