| World Painted Blood Ranked
So World Painted Blood actually doesn't suck? | 1 | Slayer Psychopathy Red
Despite being the first single, Psychopathy Red was roaring tune. It drew more influence from the punk side of Slayer, and was an instant hit with me from the day I heard it. Plus, whenever Slayer deals with a serial killer (in this song's case, Andrei Chikatilo), they haven't disappointed yet. | 2 | Unit 731
The moment this track was announced, I was ecstatic. I learned about Unit 731 in my Pacific War class, and they stuff they did was indescribable. I knew that Slayer would do this right, and they did. Just like Psychopathy Red, there is a more punk-vibe, and when Tom snarls "You would scream at the things I've done!", I can't help but headbang. | 3 | Snuff
Third spot is a toss-up between Snuff and Public Display of Dismemberment. I gave the edge to Snuff simply because of the classic Slayer chorus riff that sounds straight off of "Seasons". Plus, it's a song written by King that doesn't have utterly retarded lyrics, not to mention the ridiculous drumming of Dave Lombardo (more fills, anyone?) | 4 | Public Display of Dismemberment
This is just a damn speed fest, and it's a blast to listen to. Tom goes back to rapid vocals while Jeff and Kerry waste no times with tricks or frills; it's just blistering thrash. Surprising that a track with a stupid title could be so sweet... | 5 | Beauty Through Order
Another serial killer song, this one dealing with Elizabeth Bathory, the first known woman serial killer. The great thing about this song is the build-up: it starts off slow and creeps along, but near the end it just becomes as frantic as the tracks before it. The highlight of the song is Tom wailing "My birthright is murder". | 6 | Playing With Dolls
I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for this, simply because many are put off by this song. I, on the other hand, really enjoy it. I've always dug atmospheric-Slayer, and that's what Playing With Dolls is all about. It is influenced heavily by their Dahmer-based track, 213, and the features the same feeling of "being unstable". Plus once again it's about serial killers, so that's a plus. | 7 | Not of This God
Not of This God starts of fantastic; a frenzied thrash riff that just rips apart your speakers. Unfortuneatly, it's bridge consists of a "wtf?" mallcore/nu-metal riff that sounds like it was a leftover idea from God Hates Us All. Luckily, this is only brief before the song just goes full throttle again and finishes off in a crazed manner. Great beginning, wtf-middle, fuckin' awesome ending. | 8 | World Painted Blood
These last few songs is where the album begins to tank. The title track has a lot of good ideas going for it (mainly the strong verse and eerie intro), but near the halfway part it breaks into a laughable breakdown...not to mention the solos sound like a dying whale. | 9 | Hate Worldwide
Filler. Plain and simple. Great intro riff, then falls apart (well, it just gets boring). | 10 | Human Strain
A song about Swine Flu? Really? Ok, the song is about as interesting as the subject matter, and it surprises me because Jeff is the main writer for this song. It tries hard to capture that "creepy" feeling that Slayer has captured so well in the past, but ultimately falls on it's face. Boring as shit. | 11 | Americon

10.27.09 | I'd give this album a weak 4. When the songs are great, they're badass. When they suck...they suck hard. | Jesuslaves
10.27.09 | Americon's the only one I flat out don't like. But it's a disaster.
Unit 731 is sexxxxx. That last shriek by Araya, 'my blood it runs like MERCURY' is fucking awesome. As is the last verse where his voice has a tiny bit of distortion/layer. That one's my favorite on the album.
Snuff I didn't really care for. Human Strain I really liked, actually.
