Sputnik Ratings Breakdown

These are how I go about rating albums here on Sputnik. Each album is representative of their respective rating.
1Nas
Illmatic

5.0 - GODLY. Out of the 345 albums I have rated as of making this list, only 5 have classic ratings. These are not only amazing albums that I think anyone who is into any sort of music can enjoy, but also true classics of modern music (except perhaps Bad Religion's 'The Empire Strikes First', that's a five simply because it's my favorite album by my favorite band).
2Dredg
El Cielo

4.5 - AWE-INSPIRING. These are all my favorite albums. Nearly every artist who has at least one album with this rating is considered a favorite. I rec these all the time, and any list with at least one of these albums on it usually gets an INSTANT WIN from me.
3Explosions In The Sky
The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place

4.0 - AWESOME. The foundation of my musical tastes. Everything here is pretty indicative of what I listen to. If I like listening to an album more than once, or if there are a few songs from it that stick in my head for days, then usually I'll give the album a 4.
4Coldplay
A Rush of Blood to the Head

3.5 - GREAT. I've rated more albums 3.5 than any other rating. This is where all albums start upon first listen; if I like it enough to say "I like this album," but not enough to want to listen to it over and over again, it gets a 3.5. And I really DO like all of these albums, but either there's something slightly off about it or I haven't listened to it enough to have it jump to a 4...of course, that means that any of these have the potential to jump up or down, depending on how I feel.
5 Emery
I'm Only A Man

3.0 - ALL RIGHT. These albums aren't bad, but there's a definite problem with them. Either they aren't that memorable, or I only like half the songs, or they're by bands who I expected better of...something's up with it that makes the album enjoyable enough, but not one that I'd usually recommend to others.
6Linkin Park
Minutes To Midnight

2.5 - MEH. Not many albums here. These are disappointments or guilty pleasures that aren't that good anyways.
7Eminem
Relapse

2.0 - NOT SO GREAT. These suck, but they have a redeeming quality or two that keeps them from scraping the bottom of the barrel...
8Soulja Boy
Souljaboytellem.com

1.5 - 0.5 - VARIOUS LEVELS OF FAIL. ...and then we get to said bottom. These are the worst of the worst; if I rate an album a 1.5 or below, you KNOW it's bad. These have no artistic value, should have never been allowed to be made, and illustrate EVERYTHING wrong with the music today. Right now, only three albums have the dubious honor of being within this rank...I pray to God I don't have to endure any others that might be included with them.
