As for The Great Misdirect, I think the middle two songs drag a little bit. The rest is fucking ace however, especially Swim to the Moon. Holy fuck. That was only my first impression though. |

I'll listen to it one day and think it's a 5/5, and then listen another day and be bored through most of it. The Silent Circus is probably my favorite BTBAM album at the moment because it's so goddamn consistent. |

And well it's unfair to judge this early. Colors has a much more epic feel and flows better, but The Great Misdirect doesn't have as many random polka parts (though Fossil Genera is a pretty weird song). The Great Misdirect focuses a lot more on their progressive elements, and the keys are more prominent.
In terms of technicality, BTBAM outdid themselves...again. As a drummer Blake Richardson's drumming blows my mind. |

10.22.09 | I'm gonna be honest I think Obfuscation is my favorite song. If not it's Swim to the Moon. I wish it ended more epicly though (like White Walls)...I wasn't looking at how much time was left on my itunes and I was craving even more and then it just kinda ended out of nowhere. |

Gave it three full listens today. The middle grew on me but Obfuscation and Swim to the Moon are easily my favorites. They both might actually be two of my three favorite BTBAM songs along with White Walls. Desert of Song seems a little bit like filler to me however. It's not bad just not all that interesting. |
