ABCDEFG...

Yeah I'm stealing ideas...
1At the Drive-In

Different vocals you can't help but fall in love with. And they're damn catchy too. Honorable mention: ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, AFI, A Perfect Circle, Agalloch, Arcade Fire.
2Blackalicious

Couldn't find one definitive band for 'B,' so I put a rap group. They spit out great rhymes, poetic and not cheesy. I'd take good hip-hop any day. Honorable mention: Badly Drawn Boy, the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Blind Guardian, Boston.
3Circle Takes the Square

Tr00 emo. Tremendous lyric-writing, drumming, passion and emotion in their albums, nothing's not to love. Honorable mention: Cake, Camel, Children of Bodom, Chiodos, Chronic Future, Counting Crows.
4Damien Rice

Peaceful, calm and soothing music perfect for chillaxing to. Nice easy listening with beautiful melodies, guitars and strings. Honorable mention: Death Cab for Cutie, Death From Above 1979, the Decemberists, Deftones, Devin Townsend,
5The Eagles

Old school, but great music. Everyone's heard of the Eagles, at least Hotel California. Nice music, catchy at times, beautiful others. Honorable mention: Elliott Smith, Emery, Eminem, Eric B & Rakim, Escape the Fate, Explosions in the Sky.
6The Flaming Lips

I love indie. Very interesting music, also very calm and relaxing. Groovy sounds made from who knows what blend perfectly here.Honorable mention: Faith No More, Falkenback, the Fall of Troy, From First to Last, Funeral for a Friend.
7Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Introduced me to Post Rock. Insanely long songs, including a 2-disc, 4 song album. Incredibly relaxing and soothes your body. Smart music to listen to. Honorable mention: Genesis, Glassjaw...that's it :-/
8Hot Cross

I love emo. Screamo, hectic and crazy. Definition of emo? Emotional hardcore. This is damn emotional. Honorable mention: Helloween, Hopesfall.
9Iron Maiden

In my opinion, the greatest metal band of all time. Excellent singer, bassist, guitarists and drummer. No flaws anywhere. Honorable mention: Ihsahn, In Flames, Insomnium, Interpol, Isis,
10Jimmy Eat World

I didn't pick Hendrix? Screw you. Jimmy Eat World's music is incredible, including their album Futures. The music is powerful, oh so goddamn powerful. Drugs or Me? Not cheesy lyrics, not at all. Powerful. Honorable mention: Jaga Jazzist, Jeff Buckley, Jimi Hendrix/The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Jose Gonzalez.
11King Crimson

Not a huge KC fan, but they'll have to do. Not a bad band by any means. Entertaining listen here and there, and In the Court of the Crimson King rules. Honorable mention: Kalmah, Kayo Dot, Kings of Convenience, Kraftwerk.
12Love

I fell in love with "Forever Changes" immediately. Beautiful music singing about...what else? Honorable mention: Lamb of God, the Lawrence Arms, Led Zeppelin, Lifetime, the Living End.
13Machinae Supremacy

I love Redeemer, and I have ever since I first listened to it. Catchiest metal I have ever heard. Honorable mention: the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Manic Street Preachers, the Mars Volta, Massive Attack, Mastodon, Metallica, mewithoutYou, Minor Threat, Motorhead, My Bloody Valentine, My Morning Jacket.
14Neutral Milk Hotel

I love Indie because of these guys too. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is a great album. Can't really describe the music, it's just catchy and addicting. Honorable mention: NaS, the National, the New Pornographers, Nightwish,
15Opeth

Of course, Opeth can't not be on any/all of my lists, whichever one makes sense. My favorite band, I can't get enough of the death growls/beautiful clean vocals, the crushing guitar riffs/beautiful acoustic songs, the brutal drumming/calm beats, or the great lyrics. Honorable mention: Operation Ivy, Our Lady Peace.
16Pg. 99

More emo. The more the better. More incredibly heartfelt and incredible music. You can feel these guys pour their hearts out. Honorable mention: Pavement, Pink Floyd, Placebo, the Power and the Glory, Primus, Prince.
17Queensryche

Took me a while to find these guys, but I finally did and I'm damn happy about it. Not only are they a good Q band, I love them. Mindcrime is excellent, great guitar work, singing, etc etc etc. Honorable mention: ...Queens of the Stone Age?
18Refused

Toss up between Refused and Rise Against. Refused win because they have a classic album and RA don't. Took a short day or two to get used to the damn vocals, but now I love them, and the rest of the band too. Somehow it's catchy, somehow it's lovable, but I don't know how. It just is. Honorable mention: Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Reel Big Fish, Renaissance, Rise Against, Rough Silk.
19Stratovarius

Classic power metal band. Visions rules almost all other Power Metal albums out there in my opinion, and I've yet to listen to what's sure to be other great albums by them. Elements Part II? Episode? We'll see. Honorable mention: Saetia, Saosin, Shadows Fall, Shpongle, Sigur Ros, Slint, the Smashing Pumpkins, the Smiths, Sonata Arctica, Sonic Youth, Sparta, Spoon, Sufjan Stevens, Sunny Day Real Estate, Symphony X, System of a Down.
20Thrice

My first Post-Hardcore band, and I still love them. Catchy music sometimes, just plain old good music others. Vheissu is amazing. Honorable mention: Talking Heads, Television, Tool, Tori Amos, Tortoise, Triumvirat, Two Gallants.
21Underoath

I hate Underoath. I have no U bands??
22Van der Graaf Generator

Not many V groups either, but oh well. I like these guys plenty. I guess. Honorable mention: the Velvet Underground, Vendetta Red, Violent Femmes, Vision Divine.
23Weezer

Excellent album in Pinkerton and excellent album in Blue Album. Everything else sucked. Honorable mention: Ween, the Who, Wire, Wolf Cry, Wu-Tang Clan.
24X Japan

Japanese, but pretty friggin' good. Progressive/metal Jap band. Come on. Honorable mention: Xiu xiu?
25Yes

Classic prog rock band. Amirite? Honorable mention: Yo La Tengo.
26Zombies

Yay for Post Punk. Kinda groovy post punk but still. Honorable mention: Zao.
