Listening to Type O negative while driving at dawn is also amazing. And listening to Agalloch while driving on the highway and its less than 0°C outside is also fucking great (in order to achieve the desired atmosphere, you must be a cheap bastard that refuses to turn the heat on in order to save gas) |

09.27.09 | Usually depends on the weather. Summer albums are far different from winter albums. Rain just fucks everything up.
It's usually upbeat shit for the summer like
At The Drive-In - El Gran Orgo EP
Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine
Thrice - Beggars/Vheissu
!!! - Myth Takes
Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
Minus The Bear - Planet of Ice
Portugal. The Man - Waiter: You Vultures!
Stuff like that...
Winter albums are usually the complete opposite
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Tool - Aenima
Nordic Nomadic - Nordic Nomadic
Then rain is usually post rock, like Godspeed and Sigur Ros
Although lately its been Mew - No More Stories and Russian Circles - Geneva in my car.
Bon Iver - For Emma

ANYway, agreed with easternlight, I love doing that :)
Um, Cynic's 'Traced In Air' is fucking awesome to drive to late at night. It's a trip for sure.
Also, post-rock of any form is great (God Is An Astronaut's "All Is Violent, All Is Bright" is a definite favorite), as is any Hans Zimmer movie soundtrack (especially the Dark Knight sound track. SO fucking epic). |

Inveigh
11.07.09 | I like driving to anything by Deftones, Poison the Well and P.O.S. but it's also fun with Home by Sevendust and Vheissu by Thrice -- just to name a few.
Another one of my favorite things to do while driving:
you ever notice that on the highway (usually, I guess it could be anywhere) that if there's a little kid in the backseat of the car next to you, he'll just stare at you forever? Just looking, because little kids like to do that stuff?
Well what I like to do is look at the kid with a straight face and then make the throat-slitting motion at him. After that you can never look back. The kid will freak out and tell his parents and they'll keep looking at you for evidence; evidence you won't give them. Then they'll beat the kid once they get home for making up lies about strangers. |
Emim
11.07.09 | Inveigh, he gives shrinks a job!
Ha ha, but really. Heavy stuff is the best for driving.
August Burns Red
Meshuggah ("War" in particular)
Protest the Hero
Underoath (Breathing In a New Mentality)
If you want some Brocore, minus the core, check out "Bounce" by Thousand Foot Krutch. It makes actually cool people do a double take just to see if you're actually serious. |
