| Kingsoby1's Porcupine Tree Rankings
Your definitive source for Porcupine Tree rankings... I've been a fan since 1999 when I first heard Signify. That makes me more elite than you. | 1 | | Porcupine Tree In Absentia
This is a modern rock opus, plain and simple. Every track may not be perfect, but they are brilliantly sequenced. "Blackest Eyes" is a classic track, as is "Trains". | 2 | | Porcupine Tree The Sky Moves Sideways
A masterclass in modern psychadelia. Yeah, I used the word masterclass, thanks Nick Greer. | 3 | | Porcupine Tree Lightbulb Sun
"Russia on Ice" is an epic song... apart from that, this is an incredibly solid pop effort - much more cohesive than Stupid Dream's gay brit-pop. | 4 | | Porcupine Tree Deadwing
With a lot to live up to coming after In Absentia, this one was a let down. But it's still better than most of the crap out there and would have made my end of year list for it's year of release. "Arriving Somewhere" is awesome, as are most of the tracks except that stupid radio-tailored one. | 5 | | Porcupine Tree Fear of a Blank Planet
I'm including Nil Recurring with this as packaged in the vinyl version. Personally, I really feel that those B-Sides are much more interesting than the main record, but what do I know. The prog jamz here are far too drawn out and derivative. Still a good record, but continues a downward spiral off of In Absentia's success. | 6 | | Porcupine Tree Signify
Pre pop era... Signify runs in the vein of similar Euro prog groups in the same era (namely Izz). "Sleep of No Dreaming" is a great come-down track, but some of this is too out there. | 7 | | Porcupine Tree The Incident
About as good as FoaBP... hearkens back to Lightbulb Sun era PT with a dash of IA for good measure. Of course, mimicking yourself is never a good strategy in trying to earn critical acclaim. | 8 | | Porcupine Tree Up The Downstair
Not many people here like this, but there are some great tracks... "Synesthesia" for example. But yeah, it's another good-in-places pre-pop era PT record. | 9 | | Porcupine Tree Stupid Dream
This is where Steve Wilson decided to emulate lots of gay Brit-pop bands. As a result, he made a gay album. | 10 | | Porcupine Tree Voyage 34: The Complete Trip
This is pretty stupid overall and nearly unlistenable. If Wilson were actually on LSD when recording this, it would be way better... | |

Nah, son. It took me months to get into #1, but it's easily my favorite PT album. I've also got high hopes for 'Deadwing', 'Stupid Dream' and 'Lightbulb Sun'. | Phantom

12.01.09 | I'd have to agree with you. The only record I haven't heard is #10. But I did really dig FoABP. Did you see it live? I caught PT 3 times, I believe, on that tour. One of the nights they performed the whole thing through and that's when the album really clicked with me | Altmer
