I would go with some other albums by the bands you've got there, namely The Jester Race and Colony by In Flames (maybe Come Clarity too) and Terminal Spirit Disease by At the Gates. Ditto to LeperCon about Carcass' Heartwork, it's stunning. I would also say check out: Soilwork - A Predator's Portrait, Natural Born Chaos and The Chainheart Machine Also, anything by The Absence and Autumn Leaves.

They're straight up death metal, but have melodic tremolo picking riffs. Override of the Overture from Like an Ever Flowing Stream would a good place to start

Like what Dimmu Borgir are to black metal (kinda, only not as big and actually being melodeath while DB is not real black metal at all -- ok, bad comparison). Hypocrisy and DT do shit all over them. As does Autumn Leaves and Soilwork.
