08.31.09 | Not bad at all. 1 and 4 especially rule. |
Nikkolae
08.31.09 | dunno bout 3 specially the album you chose since is the poppiest after They're only..., and yes ABR and Mis Sigs are awesome, 5 is a bit more death metal-y so idk bout that one too |

08.31.09 | moar converge, list needs |
SlightlyEpic
08.31.09 | List needs more:
Converge
Botch
Deadguy
7 Angels 7 Plagues
Poison The Well
Skycamefalling
Taken
Knut
The Secret
|
chaseguitar
08.31.09 | yep, ABR is the best. |
kitsch
08.31.09 | no the list goes like this
converge
botch
dillinger escape plan
cave in
7 angels 7 plagues |
Waior
08.31.09 | I approve of this list. |
Emim
08.31.09 | I approve of you approving this list. |
Inveigh
08.31.09 | Definitely dig 1 and 2 but not sure about the rest as top 5 material. I liked Underoath a long time ago when The Changing of Times came out...
I think you should first designate your list as 1st wave or 2nd wave metalcore, as it currently contains mainly 2nd wave metalcore (except Underoath, and that's even questionable).
In any case, I think your list is missing a few names, most notably:
Unearth
Poison The Well
Killswitch Engage (say what you will, they're just awesome)
Parkway Drive
Dillinger Escape Plan |
Emim
08.31.09 | I agree with fromtheinside and no KsE, not ever. |
myhigherpie
08.31.09 | underoath and misery signals would make my list.
needs more converge, botch, dillinger escape plan, cave in, and the end. |
luci
08.31.09 | missing converge |

08.31.09 | I think Parkway Drive does modern metalcore about as well as anyone out there, I don't see why they get so much hate on this site (other than the fact that they're "scene" or somewhat popular).
Same with Killswitch, people seem to be hating on them simply because they're popular.
Also, I see bands like Botch, Coverge and Cave In getting shitloads of love around here. I'm not saying they're not good, important or influential bands... I just don't understand the massive amounts of love for primitive metalcore. |

or it could be because they've recycled every song they've recorded since their second album basically. |
Inveigh
08.31.09 | "or is could be because they've recycled every song they've recorded since their second album basically"
That's exactly how I feel about Converge. |
SlightlyEpic
08.31.09 | "primitive metalcore"?
Converge, Botch and Cave In get so much love around here because they're so much better than the other more 'modern' metalcore bands. |

08.31.09 | SlightlyEpic speaks the truth |

08.31.09 | Sorry, I disagree. |
Inveigh
08.31.09 | They wouldn't be in my top 5 either, but most of the bands on this list wouldn't be in my top 5 so... I just thought I'd throw them out there. I don't really see that much of a difference between them and ABR (even though I dig ABR).
But then again, this list had a little bit too much christian metal on it for me anyways so I probably shouldn't have even started this. |
Eskate87
08.31.09 | Fail because No:
Converge
Poison the well
Cave In
Dillinger
Botch
.....1 and 4 are solid. |
Bandido
08.31.09 | Are The Bled considered metalcore? I personally find them to be one of the top bands in the scene |
Fxxkit13
08.31.09 | "Fail because No:
Converge
Poison the well
Cave In
Dillinger
Botch"
You fail because it's HIS favorite list and not yours. |
Emim
09.01.09 | "Christian" is an adherent to Christianity, not a music genre. What's the difference between Becoming the Archetype preaching religious viewpoints, and Rage Against the Machine preaching political viewpoints?
And uh, people hate on KsE because they are a watered down parody of themselves, not because they're popular. Holy Diver is pretty ace with that being said though. |
Groink
09.01.09 | 1-3 are all nice. |
MentalityOfA
09.01.09 | BTA isn't really Metalcore, they're more Progressive, death sounding. |
Inveigh
09.01.09 | Meh, Holy Diver is definitely my least favorite song by them.
And to your other point, there's not much of a difference. I just personally don't like a lot of the cheesier christian stuff (P.O.D. and Demon Hunter come to mind). I gots no problems with ABR or As I Lay Dying though. |
Emim
09.01.09 | @Mentality:
Close enough for government work I suppose. Terminate Damnation had more definite metalcore influences, the other two were way more prog death imo.
@Inveigh:
Yeah, to each their own. I personally don't have a problem with it, but whatever. |

12.10.09 | u all do realize that holy diver is dio cover? |

12.10.09 | Yes, well I do at least. |
