Inveigh 08.31.09	Definitely dig 1 and 2 but not sure about the rest as top 5 material. I liked Underoath a long time ago when The Changing of Times came out... I think you should first designate your list as 1st wave or 2nd wave metalcore, as it currently contains mainly 2nd wave metalcore (except Underoath, and that's even questionable). In any case, I think your list is missing a few names, most notably: Unearth Poison The Well Killswitch Engage (say what you will, they're just awesome) Parkway Drive Dillinger Escape Plan

Inveigh 08.31.09	I think Parkway Drive does modern metalcore about as well as anyone out there, I don't see why they get so much hate on this site (other than the fact that they're "scene" or somewhat popular). Same with Killswitch, people seem to be hating on them simply because they're popular. Also, I see bands like Botch, Coverge and Cave In getting shitloads of love around here. I'm not saying they're not good, important or influential bands... I just don't understand the massive amounts of love for primitive metalcore.

I don't really see that much of a difference between them and ABR (even though I dig ABR). But then again, this list had a little bit too much christian metal on it for me anyways so I probably shouldn't have even started this.

Emim 09.01.09	"Christian" is an adherent to Christianity, not a music genre. What's the difference between Becoming the Archetype preaching religious viewpoints, and Rage Against the Machine preaching political viewpoints? And uh, people hate on KsE because they are a watered down parody of themselves, not because they're popular. Holy Diver is pretty ace with that being said though.

Inveigh 09.01.09	Meh, Holy Diver is definitely my least favorite song by them. And to your other point, there's not much of a difference. I just personally don't like a lot of the cheesier christian stuff (P.O.D. and Demon Hunter come to mind). I gots no problems with ABR or As I Lay Dying though.
Emim 09.01.09	@Mentality: Close enough for government work I suppose. Terminate Damnation had more definite metalcore influences, the other two were way more prog death imo. @Inveigh: Yeah, to each their own. I personally don't have a problem with it, but whatever.
