Best Singers In Rock Music

The best singers of alltime IMO.
1John Lennon (Beatles/solo)

Raspy, psychedelic, sleepy, poppy, bittersweet. Listen to: I'm Only Sleeping, In My Life, Mother, I Want You
2Robert Plant (Led Zep)

Orgasmic, charismatic, mellow, pure rock and roll. Listen to: Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Kashmir
3Freddie Mercury (Queen)

Amazing range, operatic, flamboyant, accurately intonated. Listen to: Love Of My Life, Killer Queen, Don't Stop Me, Bohemian Rhapsody
4Paul McCartney (Beatles/solo)

Sweet, charming, pleasant, just plain amazing. Listen to: For No One, Get Back, Maybe I'm Amazed, Here There and Everywhere
5Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)

The voice of the 90s, talented artist, and a vulnerable singer. Listen to: Smells Like Teen Spirit, Polly, Rape Me, All Apologies
6Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath/solo)

Godfather of Heavy Metal. Listen to: Ironman, Electric Funeral, War Pigs
7Jim Morrison (Doors)

Scary, touching, melancholic, and brave. Listen to: Light My Fire, Break On Through, Love Me Two Times, Tell All The People
8Bob Dylan (solo)

You either hate his voice, or love it. Listen to: Mr.Tambourine Man, Like A Rolling Stone, Blowing In The Wind
9Black Francis (Pixies)

Influenced grunge, and modern rock. Listen to: Where Is My Mind, Debaser, Crackity Jones, Mr Grieves
10Thom Yorke (Radiohead/solo)

Creepy and haunting voice, thats sweet and emotional at the same time. Listen to: Karma Police, Nude, Creep, Paranoid Android
11Bon Scott (AC/DC)

Way better than that new guy. Listen to: TNT, Let There Be Rock, Highway To Hell
12David Bowie (solo)

The chameleon of the music industry. Listen to: Life On Mars, Space Oddity, The Man Who Sold The World
13Mick Jagger (Rolling Stones)

Sounds like its easy to sing like Mick, but try it outyourself and it isnt. Listen to: Brown Sugar, Start Me Up, Angie, Emotional Rescue
14Morrissey (Smiths/solo)

Never will we again see a singer so flamboyant with a voice like Morrissey. Listen to: This Charming Man, Handsome Devil, There Is A Light...,How Soon Is Now
15Ian Curtis (Joy Division)

Invented what we now call the goth voice. Also influenced alot of new indie bands. Listen to: Isolation, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Transmission, Shadowplay
16Rivers Cuomo (Weezer)

Basically, his voice is the blueprint for the voice of every other alternative band that came after them. Listen to: Buddy Holly, Tired of Sex, Say It Aint So, The Sweater Song
17Johnny Lyndon (Sex Pistols)

Sure, it isn't melodic or mellow, but his primal half-shouted singing and strong accents revolutionised punk and rock music. Listen to: Bodies, Anarchy in the UK, God Save the Queen
18Bono (U2)

U2 are without a doubt the kings of arena rock and Bono's echoey howls and high singing helped mold the band's signature sound. Listen to: New Year's Day, With Or Without You, Beautiful Day, Sunday Bloody Sunday
19Chris Cornell (Soundgarden/solo)

It's rare to see a singer with a voice so raspy yet so mellow, with a vocal range like Cornell's. Listen to: Black Hole Sun, Billie Jean
20Zack De La Rocha (Rage Against the Machine)

Rap plus Metal plus Funk? What does that sound like? Sounds like De La Rocha's singing. Listen to: Killing In The Name, Bulls on Parade, Guerrila Radio
