Bands I Have Recently Started Listening To....

Here are some of the bands I have recently started listening to and become a fan of. Normally I don't do lists but I was bored and I just wanted to see other people's opinions of the bands I am beginning to love.
1Death
Human

Now I am fan of Cynic, I love them. So when I heard that they were with Chuck Schuldiner's Death for the
recording of Human I was expecting to hear more of the same technicality that Cynic has been drilling into
my brain over the last year.
Now I already had Scream Bloody Gore and thought it was a decent album but nothing really stood out for
me. I tried Human as my next choice and don't regret it one bit. The riffs are heavy, the lyrics are
meaningful unlike most death dribble. It's just a great album and I am probably going to listen to it even
more within the future. I could probably live without having to hear another Death album. I like it THAT
much. Do yourself's a favour and listen to this. Now. Go on. Do it.
2At the Gates
Terminal Spirit Disease

Now while I head Slaughter of the Soul being called the definitive Melo-Death album that came out of
Gothenburg, I disagree. Terminal Spirit Disease had something unlike SotS that made me like it more. I
can't put my finger on it. Hell, it might be just the intro of "The Swarm" that brings the hairs on my back to
a standstill every time I hear it.
I started listening to Melodic Death with Children of Bodom (If you can kind of all it that) and then
eventually onto earlier In Flames albums like "The Jester Race" which is one of my favourite albums. Just
makes me wish At the Gates were still together. Maybe one day....*sniff*.
3Dark Tranquillity
The Gallery

Yes, another Melodic Death metal album on the list. Bored? Go away. I really enjoyed this album and
managed to get the copy with the ton of covers at the end. The guitarwork is great and just stacks up
there with the best. I would say that Dark Tranquillity has been one of those bands that have consistently
brought out good albums and can honestly say there is hardly one stinker in their catalogue. Can't wait to
hear from them in 2010.
4Municipal Waste
Hazardous Mutation

I like thrash metal. It was probably the first form of metal I truly appreciated and loved. I loved it's
aggression and speed with some badass lyrics. It was strong music but never fun. Municipal Waste
changed my impression and image of thrash when I heard this album. It's such a fun and fast album I can
listen to it without getting bored at all. Crossover thrash is awesome and here to stay. If you want to
start listening to these guys, listen to this album. 15 songs, 26 minutes long. Reign in Blood was a heart
attack in 30 mins. This was having having a heart attack while at a party with your best friends and some
hot girls nearby cheecking you out. Yeah.
5Textures
Silhouettes

I don't normally listen to tech death bands like Meshuggah etc. I don't mind listening to them, I just don't
do it often.I tried this album after hearing some good things about it, and I got to say its a good listen.
Some of the songs are very intricate and make really interesting songs to listen to. Normally I wouldn't
associate clean vocals with something hard hitting but it works. Awake is one of my favourite songs of the
album, and I will definately check out their older stuff.
Also check out Stef's (Textures drummer) work with Exivious (featuring members of Cynic). Really cool first
album.
