| Overload
Aaargh overload of 2009 music, it just gets more and more ridiculous, this is an d Albums of 2009 list. | | 1 | | 2009 Best Albums | | 2 | | Mono Hymn To The Immortal Wind
Still essentially one of the most powerful and moving post-rock releases ever. | | 3 | | fun. Aim And Ignite
Can't hype this enough. Creative, quirky, happy, emotional pop music. | | 4 | | Florence And The Machine Lungs
Loving Drumming as the new single, album still fits together flawlessly. | | 5 | | Thrice Beggars
Softer and more deliberated without losing any of the intensity. | | 6 | | Broken Records Until The Earth Begins To Part
Massive, sweeping, orchestral Scottish indie-rock. | | 7 | | As Cities Burn Hell Or High Water
Just so pretty. | | 8 | | Maybeshewill Sing The Word Hope In Four-Part Harmony
Heavy-ish, political post-rock with momentum and pianos. | | 9 | | Taking Back Sunday New Again
More alt-rock, less pop-punk, better crafted, hooks galore, awesome. | | 10 | | Frightened Rabbit Quietly, Now
The Midnight Organ Fight loses none of its power in a stripped down live setting. | | 11 | | Fightstar Be Human
Post-hardcore with hooks and strings and Charlie Simpson. | | 12 | | FACT FACT
Totally fucking confusing, totally fucking good. | | 13 | | Blue October Approaching Normal
Real surprise, this has some brilliant alt-rock songs and relaxes me. | | 14 | | Gavin Castleton Home
I still can't get over the concept of recording a zombie film album about a breakup. | | 15 | | Metric Fantasies
Who'd you rather be, the Beatles or the Rolling Stones? | | 16 | | The Thermals Now We Can See
I have some difficulty telling their songs apart, but I enjoy everything they put out. | | 17 | | Set Your Goals This Will Be The Death Of Us
They sound kinda like blink at points, but this is great. Look Closer rules. | | 18 | | Coldplay Leftrightleftrightleft
Live albums are weird, but this is just awesome. | | 19 | | We Were Promised Jetpacks These Four Walls
Pretty great indie-rock from Scotland with a bit of experimentation thrown in. | | 20 | | Thursday Common Existence
Idk why this isn't higher it just hasn't clicked. | | 21 | | Animal Collective Merriweather Post Pavilion
zOMG 21 should be higher *whine whine whine* | | 22 | | Placebo Battle For The Sun
Disappointing; still gets spins. | | 23 | | 2009 Worst Albums | | 24 | | The Blackout The Best In Town
Read my comment in the album thread and find out why. | |

08.12.09 | 2 has grown off of me but is still one of my favorites of 09. 5 and especially 11 also rule. 21 is overrated. | handoman
08.13.09 | 2009 has been awesome, but i just realized theres so much more stuff i need to listen to | Prophet178
08.13.09 | Good list, props for 8 and 14. | Knott-
08.13.09 | i need to listen to emery more fti - off a first spin i enjoyed it | DaveyBoy
08.13.09 | I really really like Emery... So I'll standby for who they've ripped off! ;-)
I'm shocked that #2 isn't #1... YET! | DaveyBoy
08.13.09 | ... & I really thought you'd like The Temper Trap more than a 2.5 Adam. I clearly haven't got your musical tastes as pegged down as I thought I had. | Knott-
08.13.09 | Yeah it was too gay Davey haha, terrible descriptor but it seemed too glitzy in a non-cool way. Couple of the tracks really turned me off, too.
The only reason fun. isn't top yet is because I don't want to feel like too much of a raging fanboy and Mono is still freaking sublime. I'm pretty sure Aim And Ignite is my favourite release of 2009 so far, I just need to make sure. | Electric City
08.13.09 | cool list bro but 21 should be higher whine | robertsona
08.13.09 | 21 should be higher
not joking though it's the best album of the year
DEAL W/ IT | MyNamelsVan
08.13.09 | Thursday and Fightstar's latest albums are both great, and I've heard a little of the new Thrice which is good too. | Curse.
08.13.09 | You are missing Regina Spektor and Bat For Lashes | JacobsLadder
08.13.09 | needs moar metal | Douglas
08.13.09 | Jeez, The Blackout have really ripped that other band off.
Karnivool, Emery, Silversun Pickups and Manchester Orchestra are
awesome as well. |
