Favorite Female Singers

Up until about a year ago I was a sexist bastard and insisted on my music collection being a sausage fest. But Sputnik has opened my ears to the world of female singers... so let's hear it for the ladies.
1Soap and Skin

Anja Plaschg - This is the top of the list, hence my current favorite... counting up to my least favorite of my top 10. Anja might just be everything I could ever want out of a woman. Thanks BallsToTheWall for the intro.
2Kate Bush

Kate Bush - It might be blasphemy to put her at #2... but I just don't listen to her all that much despite how much I like her trademark artistic style and personality. My fiancee introduced me to her.
3Bat For Lashes

Natasha Khan - I'm listening to Two Suns while writing this list actually, and I'm sort of chair dancing. I'M NOT GAY I'M LIBERATED... again thanks BallsToTheWall for the intro. I got into 3 of these bands last night thanks to your best of 2009 list.
4Imogen Heap

Imogen Heap - Probably the most popular of my favorite female singers, but for good reason. I loved her in Frou Frou and all of her solo work to date. If you haven't heard Canvas from her forthcoming album you're missing out...
5Amesoeurs

Audrey Sylvain - I fell in love with her voice on their EP, and she was fantastic on the LP as well. It's a shame they called it quits, I hope Niege works with her again soon.
6Lisa Hannigan

Lisa Hannigan - I have no idea why I have her all the way down at 6 but I don't feel like editing the list... I love this woman. I'm not exaggerating when I say she is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Sea Sew was an excellent debut album and her work with Damien Rice on "O" was spellbinding.
7Anathema

Lee Douglas - When a band goes so long without a female vocalist and suddenly throws one into the mix, it's usually a bad move. Lee Douglas is a perfect fit for Anathema however. YouTube any of her performance with Anathema on some Mexican radio/tv program and you'll see what I mean.
8Black Math Horseman

Sera Trimms - Thanks again Balls. Not much to say here, her voice just works perfectly for this type of music.
9Quix*O*Tic

Christina Billotte - I'll be amazed if anyone on Sputnik Music has ever actually listened to this defunct group. Billotte's voice is almost spooky on top of the dark surf-style guitar that this band unfortunately never became famous for.
10Rachael Yamagata

Rachael Yamagata - I'm putting her here because I ran out of other singers and because she was the first female singer I ever got into. Heard the track "Worn Me Down" during a cross-state drive during a pretty lousy time in my life and latched on to her voice.
