Breathe...

Holidays have been wild so far, my home feels like a hotel, just coming come to sleep and thats it. Couple of reviews in the works, fingers crossed I'll actually find time to write them. Digs.
1Bibio
Ambivalence Avenue

Really cool eclectic mix of experimental folkly tunes, there really is a whole lot going on here, from upbeat, neo-psycadelia to funky disco infused rollicks and and even deep hip hop influenced beats. Really intriguing listen.
2Melvins
Houdini

Chugchugchugchug -ten ton drums- chugchugchug. I like.
3Tom Waits
Rain Dogs

Took me long enough, but this is just -cool-. Waits sounds like he's spent his entire life in the back of a bar with his raspy, bourbon fueled voice chronicling an era of living on the edge.
4 Park
It Won't Snow Where You're Going

The closest pop-punk will get to post-hardcore without actually being post-hardore. Fumbly, whirling guitar lines mixed in with clean vocals and the usual cathyness of the genre.
5Northstar
Pollyanna

(pop) Punk rwak, nothing special, but an OK listen.
6Florence And The Machine
Lungs

Sprawling, awesomely composed pop, Florence's soul infused voice is like a whirlwind cutting a precise path through a maze of elegantly textured songwriting - the best pop album of 09.
7Dance Gavin Dance
Happiness

I'm a DGD virgin, but this is pretty cool. Reminds me of Emery's latest, just easy to listen to, nothing too imposing or original, but hey, it's still fun.
8Sonic Youth
The Eternal

Really really dig this. I've grown to like these guys a hellava lot more recently and this is no barrier to that. Anti-Orgasm absolutely rules.
9Apricot Rail
Apricot Rail

NomNomNom, apricots. Really pretty instrumental pop/post-rock, everything sparkles and shines. Like walking through the garden of eden.
10Iron Lung
Sexless //No Sex

So this is my second favorite album of 2008. Brutal fucking sludge influenced hardcore, this is violent, bloody art.
