Top Ten Of 2009 As Of 6/22

2nd half of 09 gonna be > 1st half otherwise an excellent year for music lovers. hope you enjoy the list
1Animal Collective
Merriweather Post Pavilion

Absolutely breathtaking, far and away the best of 09 so far. Feels like a landmark album.
Best Tracks: "My Girls", "Summertime Clothes", "Daily Routine", "Lion In A Coma", ahhhh pretty much the entire album.
2Silversun Pickups
Swoon

Might not sound like it at first, but actually quite a leap from their debut in terms of songwriting and overall punch. Looking forward to their next one big time.
Best tracks: "Growing Old Is Getting Old", "Panic Switch", "Substitution"
3Grizzly Bear
Veckatimest

In a year where Animal Collective destroy everything, there's not much room for this little indie gem.
Best tracks: "Two Weeks", "Ready Able", "While You Wait For The Others"
4Japandroids
Post-Nothing

This album is incredible. The amount of sound these two guys can create is a marvel, overall just a really fun and high energy album.
Best Tracks: "Young Hearts Spark Fire", "Heart Sweats", "I Quit Girls", "Wet Hair"
5As Cities Burn
Hell Or High Water

Much better than Come Now Sleep, sleeker songwriting and "Into The Sea" is probably one of their strongest tracks.
Best Tracks: "Made Too Pretty", "Lady Blue, "Into The Sea", "Pirate Blues"
6Mono
Hymn To The Immortal Wind

Mono name this album perfectly, as it's just a magic carpet ride through the clouds the whole way through. Some of the best post-rock in a while.
Best Tracks: "Ashes In The Snow", "Burial At Sea", "Everlasting Light"
7maudlin of the Well
Part The Second

Awesome, awesome album. You can really hear the band maturing even more.
Best tracks: "Excerpt from 6,000,000,000,000 Miles Before the First, or, the Revisitation of the Blue Ghost", "Rose Quartz Turning To Glass"
8Taking Back Sunday
New Again

Great driving record, just put it on and go. The guitarist change didn't seem to effect them, may have even made them better.
Best Tracks: "Sink Into me", "Cut Me Up Jenny", "Everything Must Go", "Capital M-E"
9The Decemberists
The Hazards Of Love

About as good as The Crane Wife, just another solid output
Best tracks: "The Wanting Comes In Waves", "The Queen's Rebuke", "A Bower Scene"
10Patrick Wolf
The Bachelor

Fantastic album from start to finish, didnt know where to rank it so it goes at 10 lol.
Best tracks: "Oblivion", "Vulture", "The Sun Is Often Out"
