| My Favourite Bands
I'm new here so....my favourite bands/ | 1 | Metallica
They've been my favourite band since i heard S&M when i was about 10 and was blown away. they're a great mixture of headbanging metal and catchiness.
I love every album except for Saint Anger. | 2 | Megadeth
Like Metallica, they are a great, catchy metal band. They're more technical than Metallica but i think Metallica are better songwriters and have more a more diverse catalogue. | 3 | Karnivool
I was very tempted to push them to number 2.
They're brilliant musicians who know how to write technical and progressive music while keeping it accesible and catchy. Ian Kenny is also a brilliant singer. | 4 | Pearl Jam
A great rock band with a huge catalogue who know how to write great songs and keep their music fresh. | 5 | Silverchair
A band thats had a huge progression since their first album. I love all their albums except for Young Modern which was mostly crap (I love pop but they tried too hard on this one).
Neon Ballroom is a masterpiece | 6 | Symphony X
Very technical, progressive band that have one of the best singers in the world. There's also an abundance of hooks in their music. | 7 | Dungeon
I would actually move this to 5.
Very underrated Australian Power Metal band who are one of the standouts in the genre in my opinion. They're also heavier than your average PM band and know how to write great riffs and hooks.
They're now called Lord. | 8 | Nevermore
A crushing progressive metal band that combines explosive riffs with the unique, emotional, wailing vocals of Warrel Dane. Their guitarists are some of the best in the metal genre. Jeff Loomis=guitar god. | 9 | Vanishing Point
Relatively unknown Australian band who are pretty much a less technical Symphony X. They have a great vocalist and are very catchy. | 10 | Dream Theater
One of most well known prog metal bands. I'm one of the few who like all of what they've done. They've changed things up and haven't really recorded the same album twice. Each band member is one of the best in the world at their instrument. | |

06.03.09 | Silverchair don't get enough attention here. Good for you. | kitsch
06.03.09 | eww | ArtOfWar
06.03.09 | Yeah, i think its because most people see them as the young, angry grunge band that they once were instead of the great rock band they are now. | Yotimi
06.03.09 | Yeah, Silverchair are pretty good and Neon Ballroom is too. I kinda liked Young Modern though, but Neon Ballroom is their best. | ArtOfWar
06.03.09 | Young Modern had about 3-4 songs i liked and the rest were meh. It was just too rediculous and vibrant. It would of been better if it was darker and more restrained. | bloc
06.03.09 | welcome, new user. remember, there are a lot, and i mean A LOT, of fools on this site. | AliW1993
06.03.09 | 1, 2 and 3 are amazing | Mordecai.
06.03.09 | 7 rocks live amirite? | ArtOfWar
06.04.09 | I actually saw them recently (as Lord) and yes, they are awesome live. | Streetvulture
06.04.09 | Diorama is one of my favourite albums of all time, just beating Neon Ballroom om terms of favourite chair albums
And Young Modern rules so hard | ArtOfWar
06.05.09 | I hated Diorama at first but now i love it. I hope that happens with Young Modern. | Zip
06.05.09 | No Opeth or BTBAM, very good choice. | OllieS
06.05.09 | I listened to one of 9's albums, it was okay but really dragged and got boring quickly | ArtOfWar
06.05.09 | "No Opeth or BTBAM, very good choice."
I like both bands but they're no way near my top ten favourites.
"I listened to one of 9's albums, it was okay but really dragged and got boring quickly"
A lot of their earlier albums are a bit bloated and overly long. With their last album "The Fourth Season" they cut out all the fat which resulted in it being a lot shorter and straight to the point. I suggest you give that one a try. | rgsquire
10.26.11 | Karnivool is incredible. They are also in my top 3 |
