Cursive's Albums' Top Songs (2000 Onward)

The Top Songs per Cursive's 4 releases of the new millennium. Also, the best song overall.
1 Domestica
The Martyr

This song just has perfect rhythm and a beautiful vocal part; when Kasher sings "Sweet baby don't cry..." and the falsetto response "Your tears are only alibis!" comes in, the song bursts open and floods with energy.
Runner-Up: Shallow Means, Deep Ends
2 The Ugly Organ
Staying Alive

The best song on this album by far, and the best Post-Rock song that's never been labeled as Post-Rock. 2 minutes in and the song is okay, very moody and restrained; 2:53 in and the song becomes a spectacle.
Runner-Up: A Gentleman Caller
3 Happy Hollow
Rise Up! Rise Up!

Just a perfect song for the album. "You're not...the chosen one. And, I'm not...the chosen one."
Runner-Up: Dorothy at Forty
4 Mama, I'm Swollen
What Have I Done

Seriously, this song completely obliterates every standard for songwriting Tim Kasher ever set for himself; it's not brooding and complex, it's straightforward mournful, wasted time.
Runner-Up: I Couldn't Love You
5 And the winner is....
What Have I Done

If not just because it's amazing musically, this song is so emotionally straightforward, it has the rest of Cursive's catalog's emotional substance in just three lines.
"You're young and you're gonna be someone,
and you're old and you're ashamed of what you've become,
well take a look around ya! You're preaching to the choir!"
