My 10 Favorite Albums
These are the albums that continue to draw my ear like magnets. Some of them I've loved for years; others I discovered recently (thanks to this site). They're unordered. Feel free to recommend similar albums. |
| 1 | | Massive Attack Mezzanine
This album creeps into your brain from the very first bass riff. The structure of the album is so organic. Favorite track: "Inertia Creeps." |
| 2 | | Rise Against The Sufferer and the Witness
I like their most recent album, but this one pretty much takes the cake. Powerful, melodic stuff. Give it a shot if you haven't yet. Favorite track: "The Good Left Undone." |
| 3 | | Brand New The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
This was a grower for me. Favorite track: "Jesus Christ" |
| 4 | | Dave Matthews Band Live in Chicago
This album explodes with energy. Something you might not expect from DMB. This is my favorite live album ever -- recorded during DMB's most creative and inspired year. Favorite track: "All Along the Watchtower." |
| 5 | | Radiohead In Rainbows
I love every Radiohead album in a different way. Maybe it's just because it's newer, but this album just sounds fresher than all the rest. Thom's melodies are beautiful on this album. Favorite track: "All I Need." |
| 6 | | Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime
This is a more recent discovery of mine. If you have ever listened to Iron Maiden and enjoyed it even the tiniest bit, you will like this album. I daresay I actually like this better than any of the maiden albums. There are so many awesome moments throughout. Favorite track: "Spreading the Disease." |
| 7 | | Incubus Morning View
This is definitely a flawed album. It's got its duds (Mexico anyone?), but the majority of the album is just such an engaging listen. Some of my favorite bass parts ever come from this album. Brandon Boyd also has a fantastic voice. Favorite track: "Just a Phase." |
| 8 | | Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral
NIN is like a drug. The more you get; the more you want. This is my favorite album of Trent's, but the Fragile comes pretty close. This is industrial-rock at its absolute peak imo. Favorite track: "Mr. Self Destruct." |
| 9 | | Elliott Smith Either/Or
This album sounds like Smith stripped to his most pure emotional form. I never skip a single track while listening to this. Favorite track: "Angeles." |
| 10 | | Bon Iver For Emma, Forever Ago
I know it's fairly new, but I can't stop listening to this album. The instrumentation is so creative on each track and his voice is so unique. Favorite track: "Flume." |
