My Favourite Albums (ever)

obviously it's just me describing some f*cking awesome albums that, in my opinion, are the greatest ever.
1Pink Floyd
The Wall

Hands down, this is my favourite album of all time. I am sure that many will disagree, but every song off of
this masterpiece entrances me and draws me into the story, which is one of depression and loss.
2Alice In Chains
Jar Of Flies

Jar Of Flies is actually an EP, not an album, but, although lacking in length, I can listen to these seven
songs for literally hours on end and gasp in awe at the musicianship of AIC as a collective.
3Dire Straits
Love Over Gold

The ultimate 'lay back and relax' album, this is, in my opinion, the best Dire Straits album, as well as being
one of my favourite albums of all time. One word that comes to mind when listening to this album is:
atmosphere. Give it a listen and you will understand what I mean.
4The Doors
The Doors

The Doors are the reason that I play piano (their keyboardist is one of the greatest), and when I first heard
this album several years ago, I was instantly hooked. Every song is well constructed, with Jim Morrison's
epic vocals and the sometimes eerie, sometimes happy keyboards being just some of the highlights. The
End, which is my favorite song foretelling the apocalypse, is also a stand out track that will haunt me
forever.
5Iron Maiden
Powerslave

Wow......... This album is amazing, a metal masterpiece. Every single track is like a driving spike being
pushed into your brain, until it all accumulates with the progressive metal epic, Rime Of The Ancient
Mariner.
6The Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground and Nico

How were these guy not massive back in the 60s? Possibly because of their eerie dark tunes, or Lou Reed's
writings of the dark side of New York city. I'll Be Your Mirror, which is a very simple, short tune, is a
contender for my greatest songs of all time list (soon to come).
7Pearl Jam
Ten

Next to Jar of Flies, this is probably the greatest grunge album (although, in theory it is not grungey at all)
starting with the mighty Once, and ending with the dark Release, this album brings me on a roller coaster
ride through my own emotions, as well as the emotions of Eddie Vedder, who is the highlight of the album,
with his spectacular voice shining especially on tracks such as Black and Jeremy.
8Pink Floyd
Animals

When the world simply falls into a corporate mess, similar to the world described in George Orwell's 1984
(or Animal Farm for that matter), this is the album that I will be listening to from my bomb shelter.
9Tool
Lateralus

No genre can really define Tool, in all of their brilliance. Needless to say, this is an amazing album, and
definitely one of my favourite albums of all time.
10Nine Inch Nails
The Fragile

This double album encompasses my mind and soul, and is the spiritual sequel to The Downwards Spiral
(which also deserved a place on this list.) All emotions are expressed through this musical masterpiece.
