Checking Out

Told myself I wouldn't buy any albums during February to save up for my trip to New York in March. That plan fell apart quickly.
Brother, Sister

Just starting to listen to it--but after four spins it's very dense and emotionally driven. The lyrics are great.
2Miles Davis
Kind of Blue

It seems like Mr. Davis is always popping up on my lists, but I just picked up the 50th Anniversary vinyl box-set--so I had to include it.
3Minus the Bear
Planet of Ice

Great Indie-Rock. Loving their use of computer effects--especially when they don't overtake the song.
4Sonic Youth
Daydream Nation

Wow. Just downloaded this a couple days ago. Extremely jarring, and still quite amazing. It'll take a couple more listens to really appreciate it, but I'm getting there.
5The Gaslight Anthem
Sink or Swim

Picked it up on vinyl a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't expecting the same kind of style as The '59 Sound, but it still turned out really cool. "Red Sky Night" is a great, if simple, track.
