Best_albums_ever

These are the albums I most readily put on. They are therefore my favourite albums. Disregarding the fact that I know 'better' albums exist, these are my favourite 10 albums of forever.
1Jimmy Eat World
Futures

Please, don't argue. This is just great song after great song after great song. The album has a sense of momentum and intensity I find inescapable; 23 is one of the best songs ever. Everything fits. Sublime.
2Bon Iver
For Emma, Forever Ago

At first this album really didn't click with me. If you listen to it in passing, it has nearly no effect whatsoever. But walking through Durham to a football game last term, in the freezing cold, it hit me just as it has hit others. It's simply beautiful.
3Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada

The rant is phenomenal; the music is insanely well crafted and some of the best escape music ever.
4Death Cab for Cutie
Transatlanticism

If you've ever seen them live, you'll know what the title-track does, but it's jaw-dropping how it manages to achieve the same climax on the record as well. Indie-pop is a big weakness of mine but this is just incredible throughout. Gibbard is a genius.
5 Bright Eyes
Im Wide Awake, Its Morning

Speaking of genius lyricists, hi Conor. Everything Bright Eyes have ever done is good; most of it is sensational, and this is 'their' best.
6Frightened Rabbit
The Midnight Organ Fight

I still can't get away from this wonderfully crafted set of indie-folk anthems. Supporting Death Cab they almost stole the show. The Modern Leper and My Backwards Walk make my heart pulse. Safe.
7Radiohead
OK Computer

Why the hell not. Fitter Happier is one of my favourite tracks ever put to record and this album is full of that kind of song. The middle section of the album is breathtaking in its relentlessness.
8Placebo
Meds

I almost overlooked this but it so, so deserves a place on this list. One of my most played albums ever, and for good reason, it's got slow-burners, hard-hitters, nuances, quirkiness, darkness and emotion running from start to finish.
9Jack's Mannequin
Everything in Transit

So damn catchy. So damn fun. So damn pop-punk.
10Maybeshewill
Not For Want Of Trying

Post-rock with short tracks, plenty of atypical influences and explosions at exactly the right times. Keeps a common theme throughout with the cyclic piano and takes my breath away.
