My Current 10 Favourite Vocalists
I know, I know another generic list. In no particular order: |
| 1 | Jeff Buckley
An incredible talent. Distinctive and emotive, makes almost any song his own. Has the ability to make it
seem like he's singing to you personally. Just an amazing voice with ridiculous range and power. |
| 2 | Thom Yorke
Read my username. You saw this coming. Just a unique and interesting singer who happens to know how
to get the most out of his vocal talents. |
| 3 | Richard Manuel
Best vocalist in the band by a wide margin. One of the most soulful singers in rock history, Richard made
really knew how to make you feel it. Killer falsetto also. |
| 4 | Neil Young
Instantly identifiable, his voice on his softer songs (which are my favourites) conveys a sense of deep
longing that can never be assuaged. Yet manages to sound just as good when he's rockin' out with crazy
horse. |
| 5 | Art Garfunkel
Bridge Over Troubled Water. Enough said. |
| 6 | Janis Joplin
So much raw passion. Best female blues singer ever imo. Watch her sing ball & chain live and you'll see
what I mean. |
| 7 | Roger Daltrey
This guy can seriously belt it out. Great singer for a great band. That scream in Won't Get Fooled Again is
epic. |
| 8 | Eddie Vedder
Deep, gruff, gravely, and powerful. Lets you know he believes in what he is singing. Very intense. |
| 9 | Johnny Cash
Cause he's Johnny Cash lol. Seriously though, his voice takes you places and the painful honesty of his
delivery allowed him to absolutely own any song he sang. Case in point: Hurt. |
| 10 | Roy Orbison
Very underrated. Great range and seemingly effortless power. Don't understand what I mean? Look up
Black and White Night - Crying. Jaw dropping performance. |
